Back to The Funnies.

Not really a "funny," but it freaked me out. From Achaea, earlier this evening.

The Eleusian Gatehouse.
A spiral staircase of natural branches exits atop this massive oak, allowing
access to the treetops. The trunk of the oak splits into four, spreading first
outward to form the landing on which you stand, then upward where the bulk of
the branches and leaves provide shade and divert the wind and rain like a
natural roof. Thick branches extend towards the other trees, forming smaller
platforms and walkways to the interior of the village. Below you, accessible by
the staircase, lies the only visible path through the thick thorny brambles
surrounding the entire region. Above, you can see natural dwellings at various
elevations throughout the village. A runic totem is planted solidly in the
ground. There are 2 Treekin warriors here. There are 2 Tsol'aa archers here.
Wavering between illusion and reality, the majestic form of a ghostly silver
stag stands here. Ialie Starfall is here. She wields an iron-tipped whip in each
hand.

You see exits leading east and down.

*Grumble* Why can't they think of their own names.

I don't think it is fair because I have written work on an IRE website under the name Ialie Starfall. It is not fair that another person can call themselves that name.

You tell Juliet, the Guide, "Please forgive me but I am upset. I am from
Lusternia. My character there is Ialie Starfall.. and someone here.. took my
name from there. My character in lusternia is 55 and the one here is 18 it is
obvious that my name was stolen. In Lusteria I am a fair writer with my works
published on the website.. Is it possible that, that girl can change her name?"

-
The helpful voice of Juliet the Guide sounds within you, "Names do not transfer
from game to game. Her name is her name, you will have to be who you are
here."

You tell Juliet, the Guide, "I do not want to play here.. but it bothers me
that someone has stolen a name I created."

The helpful voice of Juliet the Guide sounds within you, "Such is the world."

The helpful voice of Juliet the Guide sounds within you, "The games are
completely unrelated to each other."

You tell Juliet, the Guide, "They are all part of IRE. This character here will
take credit for the things I have written on the website in Lusternia."

You tell Ialie Starfall, "You obviously know my character from lusternia sad.gif."

Ialie tells you, "I don't associate either worlds, please do the same."

You tell Ialie Starfall, "How could you not associate either worlds you stole
the entire first and last name from me."

You tell Ialie Starfall, "This -is- Ialie from Lusternia. You stole my
character's name from me."
-
Ialie tells you, "I did?"

You tell Ialie Starfall, "You are wearing it aren't you?"

Ialie tells you, "Eh."
-
Ialie tells you, "I am confuzzled."

To Acheans.. I never had anything against you before as I have never played there, but you people suck... suck suckitty suck suck suck.

I hope all of you sit on it and twirl.

The guides on achaea were always jerks to me. And they aren't really the authority on the matter. Issue or email support, I'd say.
Unknown2006-02-03 05:43:54
Well that sucks.

Majorly. Something should be done about that.

And if not.. we could always petition. ninja.gif
Ialie2006-02-03 05:49:12
I just sent a letter to support.
Unknown2006-02-03 05:53:23
that kind of makes me wonder if there is a "you can't pick from these names" list. Most likely Estarra, Fain, and other gods from other IRE realms, if they had one.
Acrune2006-02-03 05:54:45
I think we had a sartan here once.
Narsrim2006-02-03 06:51:17
Ialie, I feel bad for you, but you must understand. Juliet stole her name from a play! She's totally a poser too wink.gif

ROFL, nice one.

I hate Achaea too. I left there when things started getting blech. I go back every now and then to say hey to people, but that's about it.

Well theres a Thanatos player in achaea and a thanatos god in Imperian, So Probally more gods names around as well.
Shiri2006-02-03 14:10:22
Last I checked the Imperian help file on the subject it said you couldn't use other IRE Gods (Miramar or whatever that sun god was called is the example), but nothing about characters. Supposedly there's a Nejii running around Achaea too. dry.gif
Jack2006-02-03 15:11:59
Sadly, there's a Jack in Achaea too.

Even more sadly, he's apparently a total dink. sad.gif

He was before you though. Thief. tongue.gif
Simimi2006-02-03 17:25:02
Yea that is nasty, you have my symphathies... I tried Achaea for like 10 mins a while back, as someone from lusternia was all "hey come try this one" sp I did..and everyone is always talking about it so I figurd maybe it would be fun..
NO! I got -0- help from the guild or the guides...I was just walking around, a very unpretty land...sad.gif
Ialie, get someone with an Achaean char to murder her over and over till she renames! 0^_^0

Diamondais2006-02-03 17:28:41
This is a total guess;

The Guides probably have names that are easily known to make sure a novice knows that they can go to them to speak to. Honouring them shows that they have no roleplay function and act as a Guide if the novice is really uncertain.

Achaea isnt that fun, I played it when they had guils and I tried it when they set in the House system. I still dont even understand why there is a House system, it doesnt make things anymore simpler for someone whos brand new.

Name stealing does happen, though in some ways people dont know or are fine with it.
Richter2006-02-03 18:30:36
See, I wouldn't care if there was a Richter (there is in Aetolia), but if there was a Richter Carthan, I'd have to find him and destroy him. smile.gif
Unknown2006-02-03 18:33:47
(hijacking reply to the house thing)
I stopped playing Achaea before they introduced the house system, but basically it allows players to create their own "guilds", doesn't it? From what I hear, it's not really working out that great though.
()

Ialie, you know my opinion on names like that.
comfort.gif

(and I agree, even if "regular" player names from other realms aren't usually banned, the fact that there's work of yours published under your character's name on IRE sites should warrant protection of the name.)
Richter2006-02-03 18:39:04
I think it's the last name that makes it worse.
Unknown2006-02-03 19:30:47
Yea, the last name is the clincher. I've had several character's whose names were created just by throwing letters together. That's why I think it -could- have been a fluke, but having the last name too is more than just an coincidence.
