Aethership races?!? When do we get to race them around? I figure some people will start getting a feel for where things are, and then we can speed around. I suppose once we get specializations this might no longer be feaseable, but it'd be all kinds of fun to do this.
Who's with me?

I was hoping we'd get something smaller scale, like horses or actual jousts (which would make riding worth a damn).
But I'll settle for pod/speeder races.

I'd beat them all!

Aethership races could be amusing....
Not sure how they'd do it, though

With your monstrosity Ialie?
I was thinking about getting two scouts, one room each, each with a wheel upgrade.

The Rebellion will own aetherspace soon enough.
Richter2006-02-07 20:26:11
If by rebellion, you mean loose organization of ships under my command that's turned into a massive destructive armada, then yes, yes... rebellion...
We'll take down deathStar Haven.

Whoa, I think I'd be the proverbial tortoise.
I'd think Avaerin would function better as a buoy for the course than an actual member of the race.

A tortoise with big guns
Would be no fun if there were rules against non-lethal damage. Target their command chair module before you leave the line, and start firing when they zip off. If they went for speed, there's a chance they might not even have an empath grid

My ship is about 5 times smaller than Elryn's, and is fully loaded with guns. I'd so take him on!

Eep, you'd set my forest on fire!
I suppose I could go hide in the stockroom though when the boarding starts... at least until we implode!
Shamarah2006-02-08 00:00:44
I'd beat you all with my one-room manse.
Richter2006-02-08 00:14:02
Not a bad idea to use the stockroom... But I suppose the same could be achieved with reinforced steel doors... Yeah, we'd ram in and start draining.
You should talk to me in game some time, I'd love to chat with another ship owner.

I'm buying two of those for Deepnight methinks.

There should be a way for larger ships to carry smaller ships. Something like:
Carrier Module
Place in an empty room of your aethership
Your Aethership can encompass smaller ships within its hull. The size/number of the aetherships able to be carried is equal to the number of Carrier modules installed on your ship.
For instance, if you have 2 Carrier Modules installed, you can carry either a single 2-room ship, or two 1-room ships.
These ships can serve as escape pods, skirmishers, or simple decoys. The commander would get the ability to 'launch' these carried ships without commanders of their own.

I -LOVE- this idea. It'd give huge ships a real purpose because they could have massive hangers and carry like two or three 8 room ships that are decked out with turrets and the works, making it so the big ship cruises to wherever, launches the smaller ships and lays into whatever its fighting.

But are we starting to get too sci-fi?
Unknown2006-02-08 00:51:31
What irks me is not the sci-fi (I believe it can be combined well), but the whole silly areas, denizens etc. Candyland? Icemen? Is this realm for serious anymore?
Let's not forget Weeky Peedy or whatever he's called as well.

I thought those were crazy places that nutty gods made, like how Trilillial and Isune painted the sky purple and pink.

I think the purple and pink was referring to them creating sunsets. At any rate, I agree with Kashim that some of this stuff seems a bit off. Crumkindivia, in particular, reminds me entirely too much of Bopalopia from Achaea. While both are interesting areas, my favorite areas tend towards the more serious and the less whimsical.
