Okay, I know absolutely nothing about the world really..Going to be starting a character with 300credits. Looking for someone experienced to speak to on AIM if anyone doesn't mind? Please send me a PM with your screen name if you can do this.
(I have a few ideas what I want to do, but I'd like some suggestions and answers)

We'd probably be able to help more if we knew even more generally what you were thinking of being interested in. There's a number of areas, and some might be very knowledgeable about a few but not the ones that you'd like to know more about.
As you say you already have a few ideas, perhaps sharing one or two? Which area (city or commune) seems most appealing, if some of the guilds interest you more than others, that you'd like to become a combatant or that you're determned not to do so, etc.
Welcome, though!

Okay like I said I'm only going to beable to get 300 credits, so can't really get that much in skill-wise.
What I've seen from logs, I'm very interested in the knight class, the one where you get to cut ears and such off? Don't know what sort that is..
Is it going to be possible for me to be a good knight with only 300 credits? I've played the other knight classes in Achaea, do you need to trans Weaponry over here to hit a lot of the time like in Achaea that you used to? I don't really know much about the knight class, can anyone tell me abit more about the limb damage and such they do, and wounds?
Other than that, what races would be good for being in the knight class for this type?
I don't really know much about any of the cities really, could someone give me a little more information about all of them, please?

Right there, that helps ... because I know nothing about playing a warrior archetype.
As for warrior guilds, you'd have the Paladins of New Celest, the Serenguard of the Serenwilde, the Ur'Guard of Magnagora, and the Ebonguard of Glomdoring. Each has some skillsets in common available, and then the cities have other options for another skillset and the communes have different ones (but similarish to each other).

What do all the different cities do? What's their morales, their beliefs, their reasonings, what do they follow and such?
Aiakon2006-02-06 18:28:25
What you need to do, oh Unknown Mr, is to have a little look at the websites helpfiles, or to go and create yourself a practice novice to have a little look around. Lusternia is more complicated than simple good or evil stuff.. but it comes down to two essential types of tension.
Taint against non-Taint
Forests against cities
Taint is not strictly speaking, straight down evil. It is simply a different, and generally nastier, way of doing things. Forests and cities dislike each other for relatively obvious reasons, but generally the Taint/Non-taint distinction is the most important one.
With regards the Divine, things are again more complicated than simple Good or Evil. Some of the Elder Gods look upon the Taint as being disgusting - the result of the actions of a Soulless God. Some tolerate it.. regarding it as merely a cosmetic difference. Some encourage it, as they their power bases are located amongst the taint and with an expansion of the taint comes a proportional expansion of their power. Viravain, goddess in the Tainted Commune of Glomdoring despises Taint and refuses to acknowledge it. Things are more fun here... there are less black/white distinctions.

I see a Geomancer writing, so I hope he'll at least take care of explaining Magnagora for you. I'll try to describe the Serenwilde a bit.
First, it's a commune, not a city. And yes, there are differences. Where Magnagora might look to the power of the Taint, New Celest to the Light, or Glomdoring to the Wyrd, the Serenwilde concentrates on preserving nature as it is, that it can change and progress naturally rather than being influenced by other forces that could do harm. To do this, it holds in high importance the Fae, which are the spirits of nature. The guardian spirits of the commune are Mother Moon and White Hart, two great fae lords who stayed to protect and guard it. There's a lot of history that I'm cutting out because to fully explain would be awhile and might not be what you're interested in anyway.
Serenguard can choose to learn as a third guildskill the ways of a Hunter for specialization in Tracking, or follow the path of the Totems and specialize in either Moon or Stag. Each option gives different things that they can do.
Edit:
Pssh, fine. Don't explain Magnagora Aiakon.
Though he's got good advice there too. Things aren't perfectly black and white and there's different ways of interactions possible between different areas. Trying out on a practice novice (don't even register) or so is good advice, and will hopefully give you a feel for the different areas to see what environment you think suits you best.

I didn't really describe Magnagora. Suffice to say it was from Magnagora that the Cosmic Hope Expedition was Launched which released the Taint on the World. Magnagora stands proudly at the centre of the Taint, and its peoples have become bound up with it, and to its propagtion.
Ur'Guard have Necromancy (or Tracking), which more or less speaks for itself. I can't off hand remember the Ur'Guard history (without making mistakes) so I'll leave that to an Ur'Guard.

What do Ebonguard have?
Actually is there anywhere that I can see all skillsets?

Aiakon2006-02-06 19:38:49
You can see what the skills are, but not the individual skills within them. Ebonguard are generally considered to be the best warrior class, but throwing all neutrality to the winds... go ur'guard.
Unknown2006-02-06 20:20:07
Any reasons?
Aiakon2006-02-06 20:23:29
Yes. Then we'd have more active players in Magnagora. Which would be nice. I don't really have any reasons that aren't selfish... just go where you think you'll have the most fun.

There is limited player base, so any org would be pleased to have you if you played a charactor well enough to fit into their RP.
Shamarah2006-02-06 20:33:56
You'll want to spend most of your 300cr transing Knighthood for the accuracy and the deepwound afflictions. You won't be fantastic without having your other skills, but you'll be passable, whereas if you didn't trans Knighthood you wouldn't really be able to do much of anything.
Serrin2006-02-06 21:30:46
Keep in mind, he'll also get a 2.4 x 300 lesson bonus. Which will help him out quite a bit. It'll easily give enough lessons to get teleport and up to the mastery in whichever guildskillset he chooses. So he can become a Merian Lord, Elfen Lord, Brood Viscanti, or Shadowlord Faeling if he likes the idea of being a specialized race in one of the organizations.
But yeah, if you want to go the warrior route those 300 lessons will most likely go into transing blademaster or pureblade (they do the earslicing stuff, axelord might too but I'm not sure). and then spending your neocredits/level lessons on athletics to get up to at least Strength for the nice +2 bonus.
The only reason Ebonguard could be considered the 'best' warrior guild is if you think that the level 3 balance bonus for Faelings is that amazing. Skillwise it's pretty much agreed that the Paladins have the best set that way for PK purposes. Both of the communes (Glomdoring and Serenwilde) get pretty nice utility/bashing skills from their Totem skillsets. At least from a meta-gaming standpoint.

First and foremost: Welcome! We've been getting lots of these threads lately, but more newbies is something we should all be happy about. Right? RIGHT?
Second, you'll be better off asking your guild for skill questions. Don't worry so much about credits this early on; if you can only afford 300 for now, that's alright. It's enough to Transcend in a skill, which can already make you pretty good, and it adds to your other skills. With this plus in-game credits you can probably be a half-decent fighter. You won't be able to survive single combat with people like Murphy or Narsrim, but you will be able to survive combat in groups against other less powerful people.
Third, don't worry so much about combat. There's more to Lusternia than PvP, and it takes a while to get to level 50 (The barest minimum for PvP). During this time you can focus on other things; there's roleplay, quests, bashing, and several other things to do.
And finally, welcome to the forums. It's filled with whining, grumpy bastards, and you'll love every last one of them to death, specially Murphy because Murphy is just The Murph. And me, of course, because I consistently refuse to care about such petty things as proper argumentation or factual accuracy. Those two threads linked to in my sig should show you the ropes.
Most important of all, have fun, and know that everyone else is in it to have fun, too, so help them enjoy the game.

I'm posting because Verithrax made me.
And join the Ur'Guard. I have a char, and I find them one of the most (Potentially, though the playerbase is still too small) interesting Guilds. They were the shock troops of the Holy Celestine Empire, and after the Taint was spread to the Basin, were proud to claim their heritage as the undead protectors of Magnagora.
Necromancy is also one of the best skill sets, imo.
Again, welcome.

Personally I would suggest going Blademaster Igasho (you may be slow but you will be tankier and with only 300 credits (plus all the newbie stuff) you will just possibly be able to get trans blademastery and lichdom by L70 (I am too lazy to do all the stats).
Skill suggestions are as follows:
Planar: Teleport
Combat: Envenom
Discipline: Insomnia
Influence: Amnesty (this will be better in the latter levels when you have about 3.5k ego)
Highmagic: Yesod (Expert to Geburah would be better)
Blademaster: Transcendant
Athletics: Fitness (Improved cold resistance, vitality, weathering and breathe deep).
Necro: The rest hopefully to Lichdom.
Just off the top of my head between the bonus lessons and bonus credits, you should get enough lessons to get all the small bonus stuff that will make your life easier.
The reason I included Influence until Amnesty is that its a good skill, will provide you with a bit of versatility in helping the city, and once you get enough ego/charisma (at 12 charisma at L80 I get 1% off of influencing 10 or so guards and don't get hit in return). I also suggest you start out as Igasho and save your reincarnation for later.

yeh just make sure you get newbie bonus, and if you can manage it with IC credits and lessons from levelling (help neocredits) put them into athletics to get strength, its +2 str and pretty damn useful.
You don't actually need your 3rd knighthood skill to fight good, I often don't use necromancy at all in battles.
The ur'guard is a pretty good guild, for race i reccomend human or orclach to level up with, humans get faster xp while orclach are tanky without any bonus penalties.
Speak to murphy in game, or send me a PM to get my AIM
