Yesterday, I got to fly with a full crew, and all seven of them were locked into a module. It was all kinds of fun, but I had a question about how to reduce the spam, if there is a way (and I don't want to gag that much stuff). I had about ten lines flying by every two seconds excluding the map (by the way, how does Elryn get his so huge?). This to me is just maddening, and though people told me to config mapshow on (I was a gunner), I couldn't hear what people were saying, and I couldn't tell what was coming at us. Ciaran's script helped a little, it highlighted some stuff, and I think auto targetted some, but... man, that was crazy stuff. I'm not sure that I'm going to enjoy flying if it's that spammy.
Also, I have nine rooms, and seven lockable modules (shield and ram taking the other two). How much does a ship slow down if you add more rooms? If I add ten more, will it be super slow? I know that the hull HP goes up, but I want my ship to be the fastest ship out there, that's got everything maxed out, and at least two energy collectors.
Help?

I've piloted a 3 room, 7 room, and 52 room ship. The differences between 3 and 7 were huge... I don't even want to go into the 52.
Also so far as I can tell, a mid-size ship is the worst of them all. The amount of hull you gain for say adding 10 rooms isn't that much... in fact, I doubt it will give you an extra zap against say an black dragon - but it will slow you down.

My god, how many threads will there be?
I like my ship being big and relatively slow... Munsia gave a good explanation, her manse is like a cruiser, mine is like the mother ship! Besides, its a flying biosphere so I can understand it is going to be relatively slow.
And its so not fair competing with you when you rely on donations and other people paying for it. Hmph.

If you config roomdesc brief then it reduces the spam.
Spam has been a common complaint, though the mapshow bug fix will help. If there are specific suggestions on spam reduction then please post.

Have two empath joining abilities, maybe? Locking into a module or the regular GRID JOIN will let you hear the ship channel and upon movement see only 'Avaerin, the Living Forestship glides to the north.'
GRID MINDSIGHT (person) will let them see what the commander sees, the room desc and possibly map when the aethership moves. After all, they are inside a possibly opaque vessel, it makes sense they need some kind of empathic ability to see outside it.

So, the biggest problem with the spam for me, was the inability to see shipt flying by when I needed to. Perhaps the last thing said on SHIPT could be appended as part of the prompt? I've fixed it for now using a window capture in zMUD but it's a hack.

Artifact, I think.
