So..here it is, an excerpt from the chapter on compassion, I want to enter it into the bardic...cratique it and tear it down, let me know what you think about it. But please be constructive, don't give me something I can not use...

**On The Subject of Her Loving Radiance and Compassion**
Compassion is often sighted as one of the benchmark teachings of Her Loving Radiance. While this can be a good or bad thing depending on whom you ask, it is quite true that when many of us sit back and contemplate on Her Ways we often find compassion in the forefront of our minds. Compassion as viewed by so many of us within the Basin of Life is a very personal thing. Yet as personal as compassion is to us all, we all share a certain view of it. Some of us may think it is the only true way, yet others may feel it to be a weakness. Her Loving Radiance teaches us that compassion is a vehicle for the spirit. Only by sharing compassion with others can we truly find fulfillment in our existence.
As Her Teachings state we should be compassionate to all things. I feel that this has been taken to certain extremes as of late. I am sure we could spend years pointing fingers at individuals whom we feel have been too compassionate towards our Enemies, or those who have somehow wronged the greater good by showing too much compassion at the wrong time. Compassion is something that must be judged in the context of the person who has completed the deed by a person that is not involved in the deed itself. The issue here is really, do YOU feel this person honestly deserves your compassion? If you gave them compassion or showed the mercy, would they take that and learn from it, or are they simply playing into your faith as a means of finding an easy way out? These are things you must ask yourself with each and every decision you make.
When Her Loving Radiance teaches us of compassion, we learn that compassion in the purest form should be a goal of even the most seasoned of warriors. But this teaching is clearly not meant to be taken in a fundamentalist manner, for even Her Loving Radiance will strike out at those who stand against her, and bring a foe to their knees. True Compassion does not mean one must live their life as a pure pacifist. I feel that thinking of the teaching in this way is technically incorrect. That is, not to say this form of interpretation is wrong, just that it is in truth a bit more extreme and literal than the connotation of the actual teaching itself.
I feel that the Teaching of Compassion needs the most finite definition of all the teachings, as it is this specific teaching that most self proclaimed “Razialianites” put fourth as proof of their Faith in Her, while they subsequently ‘forget’ about all the others. How can one follow one teaching so vehemently, yet clearly stand by and let all of the other teachings, some more relevant than others within modern day New Celest, float by as if their existence means nothing. Truly one can not call themselves a member of The Faithful, when they can stomach to standby and watch as we all pick and choose our way amongst the various teachings. Such creates only discord amongst our people, and gives ammo to our enemy.
Compassion as it is defined by Her Teaching is simple the ability within one’s self to care as much if not more about someone else, as you do yourself. In another light, the teachings point out that compassion as She teaches us, simply means the giving of yourself for the aide of another, whilst yourself expects naught in return for giving said aide. Such a thing does indeed sound quite noble. Imagine a world where such was a very common occurrence! I know a lot of us can become easily mentally tired by such acts, thus we meditate and attend sermons, so that we might not lose our way, and let our faith and culture stagnate. As such, we should all exercise within ourselves the cognitive ability to show compassion to those whom deserve it, yet pass proper judgment upon those who do not.
We must all strive to create a balance between compassion and judgment. I, as do many of us, understand that something as omniscient as ‘compassion’ and ‘judgment’ surely fall under very different headings for very different people. I would like to relate two experiences which shall serve to validate the points made within. During a session of prayer upon The Holy Plane of Celestia, His Divine Grace, Lord Hajamin, The Golden Lord (peace upon His soul) came to my mind, and pierced the inspiring silence of my prayers. I was not praying to Him, or in His Name, or before one of His shrines. I was simply praying, just to pray, no other reason. He came to me and we spoke, and I asked of Him to tell me of True Compassion. He, in all of His infinite wisdom, explained to me that True Compassion is naught more than compassion in a state of eternal, self advocating truths. The example given to me by His Lordship (peace upon His soul) was directly related to a sermon I had been praying over. He told me that those who are Tainted hear the voice of a Soulless screaming in the back of their thoughts every waking moment of their lives. This, as is probably no shock to any of you, frightened me to tears, to think that such individuals live that way. I truly felt sorry for them upon hearing such a revelation. He explained to me that the bliss our soul finds in its transgressions after death is a gift to them. He told me of how such blissful silence of being able to slowly absorb that calming radiance that lies within us all was truly a gift they could cherish. It was said unto me thusly, have we showed them True Compassion, by giving them such a short time away from the utter insanity that wracks their very being.
So you can see how such an ideal as compassion means so many different things to so many people. As compassion is defined within Her Teachings, it is simply the will to do well onto others, when you are willing to risk of yourself. Let us all think back and put fourth thought about who we are inside, and where our loyalties lie along the battlefield of compassion. Where do you stand when the smoke clears and there are so many who need your aide? Do you aide none, or do you aide those you can and bless the rest forgive your soul in time? Blessings upon you all, Children of The Faith.

So.. wub.gif or NO wub.gif ?

OH MY GAWD WHERE ARE ALL ME PARAGRAPHS! >_<
Unknown2006-02-07 01:44:21
Well, after reading like half of it, I noticed it says 'compassion' in every sentence, sometimes more than once...
Simimi2006-02-07 01:50:23
Hmm your right...but is that necessarily a bad thing? Got to beat it into the heads of these novices that its not all about free love!
But really did it distract you from the point of the text?
Unknown2006-02-07 02:00:13
No.
I have to say though, someone in Magnagora will have to deal with those lies you want to spread! laugh.gif
Simimi2006-02-07 02:02:06
Ya I tried to keep it as superbly Ic as possible, eventhough Simimi may not really truely feel this way... This is what New Celest needs right now, in the opinion of those higher and more knowledgable than myself. And who am I to stand against the word of GOD? tongue.gif

EDIT: Just kind of dawned on me this is hard on the eyes without the paragraphing and I don't know how to fix it...but if no one will read this thing here...who is going to care about the proposed 10k+ word full edition i want to publish icly? Honestly 15 credits is no where near enough motivation for the hours of extra grammer work I am having to do on this so it sounds like I am writing at atleast a freshman in university level in English...I just hope a few people put it to good Ic use. losewings.gif

Agreed on both points. It's a good piece of writing.. the problem is the word repetitions. They make it less interesting, and they actually make it harder to read - ESPECIALLY in character. If you're reading a book in game, you get used to the occasional deathsight bumping things up the screen.. one of the ways you can find your way back to where you were is by jumping back to a less common or particularly important word. Therefore lots of compassions = harder. Also.. you -really- need those paragraphs back in there. I really like what seems to be your last paragraph.. and I prefer the second half of your essay to the first.
Diamondais2006-02-09 12:46:01
I like it Mimi, though if I had to say there was something about it I didnt like its the repetitive nature that Compassion tends to create. Just pretty much need a thesuarus and go look up Compassion in it and find a different word, make it easier to read and people wont skim through it that way. And, Im positive itd be far easier to read if you got the paragraphs you originally had. Good job hun smile.gif
Iridiel2006-02-10 12:33:57
Yep, excess repetition is the worst part of it, because instead of making it apealing to a novice it makes it boring.

and gives ammo to our enemy.

If you're trying to sound proselitizing, use "weapons" or "tools" instead of "ammo". Ammo is too... Quake game and not formal enough.

Also, there's some missuse of words I think:

many who need your aide? ((should be aid))

So maybe get somebody to proof read it for that kind of things before sending it to bardic.
Simimi2006-02-10 18:01:30
OH NO! I already posted it for bardic!!! >_<
Thanks for all the suggestions and I agree with all of them. I will edit them into the product right now, the paragraphs are in my bardic entry just not on the forums...odd..

Heh.

That is so twisted. Positively malicious.
I love it smile.gif

An alternative idea; take the word compassion and use it is a repetitive measure that sets a rhythm. It can set a framework to build everything around.
Simimi2006-03-05 08:48:45
Nah I have the finished product now on my person IG, and I am just now editing in the changes Ayita asked for, and will be giving it to the Library, I just feel bad this new version of that same chapter can not be used for bardic...it might have a better chance of winning. Thanks for all your help and comments!
