Do the backgrounds have to be written in past-tense, 1st/3rd person narration? Or is there even a 'rule' on how the structure of a background should be? So far mine is being written as 1st person in the present with flashbacks every other paragraph (so present - past - present - past etc), and though I don't want to change it, I don't want to find out that I wrote my background the wrong way either >.<

Mine's all over the place, use the format that feels the best to you.

That seems like a good idea, really it does. Its kinda how we would remember our pasts anyways and youre not going to write every single detail of your previous life. Just certain flashbacks that have importance to your character Just go the way you feel is best.

I kind of like the feel of the Lusternian history, how in the Celestian Empire part it jumps from notes, to articles, to real time, to all kinds of other stuff. Do that!

Theyre more interesting than the ones that follow a direct way.
Shou you mentioned you wanted to have flash backs, and thats honestly a fun way you can do it. You'd get Richter's idea technically through as well. I hope to read yours, these can be rather interesting. So good luck
