Looking for some input on this one here.
What if Rage and Terror were blocked by the summoning barriers? Basically, if you could not summon your target or be summoned to your target from where each is standing, the shields would block the attack.
Unskilled combatants and the occassional novice are the most frequent victims of the covens on full/new moons. Also, do the communes really need to be fighting each other from the comfort of a room with a monolith and fifteen guards? If you're going to go on a killing spree, at least walk out into the open.

Doesn't really make sense...

Meh I like it as is, even though I do occasionally get smacked about when I'm idling in Faethorn on a new moon.

I never understood that stuff anyway. I prefer my sword and axe to all this magic mumbo-jumbo.

I know, right? All this crazy stuff 'bout whizzkaks, thumbtacks, bumblebees and hunchbacks. Warriors keep it real.

Eh, I wouldn't mind if a large majority of Night was retooled to be more useful without huge groups of people. It's a bit lacking in individual skills and most of the skills it contains hurt us as much as the people we're fighting.
Narsrim2006-02-09 07:27:08
Covens are here to stay.
Shorlen2006-02-09 10:04:56
I coven circles. Night needs a non-combat one or two though, like we have Resurgem and Light. They're good at bringing people together, even non-combatants.
Maybe night does have these, but I don't know the skillset, so

Night has Penumbra (ego regen and +1 to Cha i believe) and uhh, gloomtide i guess, which removes you from allies/enemies list of people, for all 9 people in the coven.

Since the plane wide attack only hits on two nights a month, New Moon and Full Moon its only for about half an hour about that people can actually perform these attacks. When formed you see the Moon turn red in rage and you hear Night howl. When this happens, make a warning over your CT that it is a highly dangerous spell from the Moon/Night Coven and if they are enemied to Serenwilde/Glomdoring they should shield, or if they are not enemied but not welcomed in their bounds they should shield. Its fairly simple to escape. Just need to warn the young ones about it. Also, its been awhile since Ive seen one, do they still show offplane when formed on the New Moon/Full Moon?

No, no you don't. They don't display any more, so the only warning is checking TIME a lot. Or when you see the first few start falling.

Really? I'm pretty sure I saw the rage message from where I stood. Were you on an another plane when we actually activated it, and just arrived in the middle?
(You could be right of course, I'm just double-checking.)

You *might* be able to see it in local area, but you really don't see it on-plane. I was definitely there the whole time, because I was shepherding people into safe locations just before night fell

Covens don't tend to hurt non-combatants though. At least not the ones I'm in. Only exception would probably be on Ethereal, but the non-combatants usually just leave.
Sidra2006-02-09 23:31:16
Um, during the Ethereal battle, I was on Prime and I saw them summon the Killing Moon. So it is definitely visible.

Even then we usually use a little discretion. At least, from my experience we don't just fire away at whichever non-Seren name we see.

As the sun passes below the horizon's edge, Mother Night unveils her terrible, shadowy beauty, spreading darkness across the land.
Dusk has overtaken the light in Lusternia.
The phase of the moon is that of the Full Moon.
In your world, it is 4:34 GMT.
See HELP GMT for an explanation of GMT.
You say, "Full moon."
*lots of people shielding, discussing avoiding dreamweavers*
A number of minutes later...
Yeralih has suffered a gruesome death through magic by the will of High Wisdom Shorlen Mes'ard of the Moondance.
^--- logged into Ethereal Glomdoring at a bad time.
A burst of silver light shoots out from the palm and burns into Nirrti, who cries out in pain.

A frown on Nirrti's face suddenly changes to horror as her skin begins to glow with an inner silver light. Moonlight erupts from the pores of her skin as she tries to scream but is instead consumed by the power of the moon.
^--- Lost her shield for some reason.
No red moon at all in between. I cut out looking, whos, tells, says, commands and the like obviously, but there WAS NO RED MOON over Ethereal Glomdoring, the Plane where the Coven was formed.
Sidra2006-02-10 00:31:21
I dunno. Bug it?
But I know I saw it on Prime.
