So I was sitting here reading the forums, and my Arabic Teacher comes in, and starts talking to me. I was watching the news on stream from www.hispeedworld.com/main/tv and the National Song came on, so I stood up in the lab, and sag my national song, and saluted the Thai Flag that was flashing across my comp screen, blowing in the wind.
He criticised me for it and asked me if His Magesty, The King was Muslim. I said no...He is Bhuddist.

Me and this professor have an interesting relationship, I am a Thai, and I am a Bhuddist, then I am a Human, in that order. He has been trying to make me a Muslim for along time. I do not want to. I am happy to be a Bhuddist. i will go to hell...FINE! I will listen to music,dance and touch myself in Hell just like I do in real life.

Well today we were both in the computer lab (about 30 mins ago...) and as I said I was watching the news. He showed me these pictures from Abu Gharib and we were talking about them. He said some nasty things and I just noded. He also went on to talk about the things in Denmark and how it is good, and how 9-11 was good...and blah blah blah.

Then he says out of nowhere...
Prof:"So your King is Bhuddist?"
Me:"Yes sir"
Prof:"And he has muslims in his country living in the south right?"
Me:"Yes sir, in south near Hat Yai we have almost all muslims"
Prof:" Then he should die, he should be a muslim or he should die"
Me: *SHOCK,HORROR,START TO CRY*
Prof:"They should rise up and kill him, and bring about a proper muslim state"
Me:*MORE CRYING,LOUDLY* How can you say this...it is so wrong!!!"
Prof:" No it is the truth, your king should be killed"

You -DO NOT EVER, AND I MEAN EVER- say something like that to a Thai. I do not joke that drunken foreigners have been beaten to DEATH for saying such stupid CRAP when they were drunk. Most of Thailand was against the war in Afghanistan, until a prominent Thai Leader said to the people "What if they had crashed an airplane into the Palace, and killed His Royal Magesty?" and since that day we support the U.S.A and feel sorry for them, after that speech so many people joined th emilitary to fight the enemies of Thailand.
I am sitting here crying as I type this... I am so sad inside now, how can anyone say such a thing like that? What kind of sick twisted individual would say that to me? I thought to myself "maybe I will stab him with my pen" ....I should not think bad like this but it make me so mad...

Can someone tell me WHY this INSIGNIFICANT LITTLEM WORM has to say that kind of thing to me and make me hurt so much in my heart that I am to cry? He told me national pride should not matter and I am a fool for "worshipping" my king and my flag, and nation does not matter only God. Bull! I am from the best damned nation on earth, and no one can tell me different. I salute my flag wherever it flies, I stop for the Natinal Song, I sing it when it comes on, I sing my National Song every morning when I get up. Maybe I am "too patriotic"...Ya.. Maybe

But when I have to be afraid to sing my national song and bow to my flag, cause some professor is being a bastard... This is America, I love America, cause I -DON'T- have to be afraid.... What the is up with this? Am I wrong or just being Childish?

The guy sounds like an idiot. I took a course on the cosmology of Islam, and my professor was Muslim and highly respectful of other religions and beliefs. My step-mom is also Muslim, and again, highly respectful of others beliefs, including my own (which are far from Muslim). People like him are not your standard Muslims, they're crazy fanatics which you'll come across in any religion or belief.

It's best to ask people like that to be more respectful of your beliefs, and to keep their opinions to themselves.

My big sister is muslim, this is most not about Islam vs. Bhuddism but the fact that he has the balls to insult my country like that. And to push it after he saw me crying...

Yeah, Thailand is a great country, and the food is amazing. My roommate spent a semester there last spring, and took a cooking course. I made her teach me all the stuff she learned, and so I'm always cooking green curry now. The pictures from the beaches are amazing also, and she said the moon parties were out of control. It's definately on my list of places to visit.

I don't think i'm irrational....I just love my homeland...and our national song is the awesome...

I dunno. Maybe I just have more faith in the system than I should... but teachers really shouldn't be trying to "push buttons" to this degree.

I would report your professor for harrasment and making death threats, but thats just me...

That type of talk and actiivty from a person in authority is NOT ALLOWED in most places in the united states.

Perhaps you should report him for harassment or something.
Easier said than done though, I guess, could easily backfire.

Many teachers dont give a damn because students mostly have to listen to them regardless of what they originally say.

If you're in America, then use the Free Speech you've been given during your stay. If your professor is saying things like he did that seriously offend you, you do have a right to go to the administation and complain about him, and he can't (legally) do anything about it.

And if he does try something foolish like giving you a low grade on a paper for 'no reason' - you can fight that too, especially if you have discussed a matter with the administation concerning him.

yeh go with viravain on this one, nail the bastard to a wall, if someone insulted something i believed in like that, then i would most likely be facing RL suspect status

An update...
APPARENTLY, I emailed my fiance' about this, and he met the professor outside a building, and POLITELY asked him about it...
Well the professor said some nasty things, and then he pushed my fiance' and hit him, so he kicked the professor (you know what muay Thai kicks look like...so he is kind of hurt...)
My Fiance feels bad for what he did, and knows it was wrong, but he also acknoledges no one is perfect and the prof did hit him first... the administration is ANGRY over this, First of cause he insulted The King, Thailand, The U.S.A AND Bhudda infront of my fiance, but he did hit him first...
So the plot thickens...

Well the professor in question will most likely get his ass kicked by the administration, if the ass kicking your fiance dished out wasn't enough.

I had a very good thai friend at school, thai kickboxing champ for his age or whatever, used to kick the crap out of me for a bit of fun. Was rather painful.
