I took a good look at Elryn's map, and I had a few questions/observations. This has probably been discussed elsewhere but I've been away for a few weeks (either will pop in this weekend or next, at least in a reduced capacity), and I'm just curious about things, at least from an OOC perspective.
1) Why are there portals that jump steps over the planes? From what I understand you normally can't skip planes. What makes the Aether so special that you can jump from prime aetherspace to astral aetherspace?
2) Can Aetherspace be expanded in the future, like the other mud maps? Just wondering in case it starts getting crowded or if there will be a need for the Great Fink Empire or something.
3) I noticed that there is a curious block of space surrounding what appears to be the Inner Sea. I noticed that the portals are positioned approximately where the portals exist on Lusternia. Why doesn't Aetherspace travel through the Inner Sea? Is there something special about that? ? Also, it doesn't look like there is any room for the eventual expansion of the missing cities and commune.
4) Do the colors mean anything? I noticed some "Xs" are a different color than others. I'm just curious if the color has any significance.
5) Do gods have or want ships? I'd like to see that. I would also want to know if a Divine might be able to use a ZAP to take down a whole ship.
6) Will there be any way to see or get details of an Aetherspace creature? Can you do an examine or paint such a creature?

Because the Aetherways aren't a plane, they're the space between planes.
2) Can Aetherspace be expanded in the future, like the other mud maps? Just wondering in case it starts getting crowded or if there will be a need for the Great Fink Empire or something.
I think there's more than enough room for expansion already.
5) Do gods have or want ships? I'd like to see that. I would also want to know if a Divine might be able to use a ZAP to take down a whole ship.
Elcyrion used Elryn's IIRC, so I guess not.
6) Will there be any way to see or get details of an Aetherspace creature? Can you do an examine or paint such a creature?
No.

Aye, I'm expecting that as new bubbles are developed, they'll be added to existing empty areas of the map. I don't think the outside borders will actually change.

I'm not so sure that aetherspace relates so directly to physical space. Rather than representing the inner sea, I think the gap actually might represent the physical plane entirely. But that's just a guess.

I'd imagine they do, and maybe if Commander's ever learn to tunnel through obstructions, we would find out. For now though, all obstructions are basically the same.
5) Do gods have or want ships? I'd like to see that. I would also want to know if a Divine might be able to use a ZAP to take down a whole ship.
I may be wrong, but I suspect the gods probably don't need ships to roam around aetherspace. I don't know what they can do to ships.
6) Will there be any way to see or get details of an Aetherspace creature? Can you do an examine or paint such a creature?
The analyze ability planned for empaths -may- give us more information.

Didn't Lacostian said that he had an Aethership or castle floating around aether?

Yeah, I think his castle which floats through the sky can also float through the aether.
