Cartels

At the moment, only the cartel owner can submit new designs for that cartel, and only if they possess the relevant tradeskill. Also, cartels cannot be altered to a new tradeskill once created.

I would like to propose two alternative changes to this system:

1) Allow owners to submit designs on behalf of cartel members, regardless of the owner's personal tradeskill. This would mean the person who purchased the clan and then changes tradeskill could still keep it, without having to give it away to someone else. The owner obviously can't -make- items which are not of his tradeskill, still requiring the cartel members with the correct tradeskill to do so. There doesn't appear to be any benefits other than allowing the owner to still keep his cartel active and functioning for those who remain. This would be my personal preference.

or

2) Create a permanent cartel position which handles designs. Allow us to appoint a cartel member (or the owner by default) to handle design submissions. This means that again the clan doesn't need to be given away in order for it to continue to function as an active cartel. The owner can maintain ownership, and allow someone else to do the submitting of designs.

Thoughts?

Don't see why not.
Narsrim2006-02-24 15:53:14
I totally agree.

I want enchantment cartels. I know it makes absolutely no practical sense, but I'd like to be able to enforce price-fixing without having to spend 300k on a clan.
Narsrim2006-02-24 17:22:19
How would you be able to enforce prices?
Aiakon2006-02-24 17:48:29
By the sheer force of my personality.

Are you sure about it? I think Shinza was submiting designs in her cartel after she changed trade skill.

It wont work. We tried enforcing enchantments prices in the past.
Aiakon2006-02-24 17:51:45
To be honest, I wouldn't try to 'enforce' as such. I'd just like there to be guildlines.. and I'd like there to be a city wide list of people who we won't enchant for, or who we should only enchant for if they are prepared to pay 3 times the normal price. That sort of thing.

I like this, a lot.

This would allow me to have controll over my cartels, instead of having someone else run them. >_< Lazy trademasters!
Arix2006-02-24 19:05:34
Bah, I'm not lazy, people just never send me anything. All the non-booze recipes I have submitted were sent to me by non-cooks. Although, both of them were damn good.
Richter2006-02-24 19:07:48
No, I mean my own trademasters, they don't do anything for years. If this was implemented, I could submit my own freaking designs.

I think it makes sense that anyone could make a design, with permission. I could design a shirt irl, and I know nothing about clothing. Heck, I can't even match clothes half the time.
Richter2006-02-24 19:44:45
Actually, I like a combination of the two ideas.

-The clan head can submit designs.

And

-You can add a clan permission to allow that position to submit designs.

One addition is needed to the current system though, if that's to work. You know how you can only see available cartel designs if you have that skill? Wouldn't that need to be changed somehow?

If it's anything like what happened to Sylphas after he dropped bookbinding for alchemy while still stagleaf head, he could SUBMIT designs, he just couldn't really see anything about them, so he was buggered anyway.

Aye, I just realized that although DESIGN LIST shows you nothing, and you can't see the pattern list at all, it seems you can write and submit (thankfully) even without the tradeskill.

I'll just have to hire someone to sell me the pattern numbers. ninja.gif
