This is NOT a question of comparison with violent influence. This is asking whether peaced influence is boring on its own merits.
I voted yes.
I voted yes.
Acrune2006-03-02 01:10:46
In my opinion, all influencing is boring. But in peaced, I don't have to lose experience. As "both are boring" isn't a choice, I took your question to mean "more boring then otherwise" and voted "no"
Diamondais2006-03-02 01:13:12
I personally enjoy non-peaced better, but Ill do either of them if I honestly feel like it.
Shamarah2006-03-02 01:13:49
The question was whether it was boring, not whether it was boring in comparison with violent
Yrael2006-03-02 01:19:26
Peaced influencing results in a Serenwilde zerg, and an excuse for me to call Nejii the queen of blades and laugh my head off at images of furrikin crossdressing.
Not a word.
Not a word.

Voted 'No'.
Same reasoning as Acrune.
Same reasoning as Acrune.

If your new to the whole influencing thing, a peace village is great... think of the children!
Shamarah2006-03-02 01:29:48
Edited the top post to clarify the meaning.
Acrune2006-03-02 01:35:12
And you thought it would be simple

Was the violent influence of Stewartsville more interesting? From what I saw, there was no conflict whatsoever.
Vix2006-03-02 01:53:12
Well, I still get cold hands whenever I influence, peaced or not. Voted no.
Anisu2006-03-02 02:12:45
Peaced influence sucks when it takes so long. Also something should be done about running out of a room as it's really annoying, running out of the room should break of debating for the one that remained put and make the other one unable to influence for 10 seconds, so people can start influencing someone else instead of being constantly kept out of a debate by someone that just runs. (gah it's so boring when that happens)

it was the same as peaced influencing, atleast I didn't try to get the seren/celest conflict running there

I like it as long as it doesn't run on for hours and hours.
Torak2006-03-02 02:26:11
I don't mean to step on any toes, but all peaced influencing makes me do is swear alot and leave my computer. I can't stand it, it is so repetetive and the powershifts are so minor that it lasts for hours upon hours. No influencing period should last like 9 hours, or even 3 for that matter, although this is all my person opinion. I am not saying this because I like to kill people, but peaced influencing essentially is exactly the same thing over and over again - the only difference is who has more charisma and is quicker. The debate fix was nice and makes that more fast paced, but still I find the experience overall lacking. Influencing should be about player skill - not who has more people and patience. Naturally, seeing this I voted yes.
Athana2006-03-02 02:29:27
I voted yes...it lasts too long for my liking and it's extremely frustrating and tedious
On that note I need to take a break before I kill something

Hazar2006-03-02 02:31:36
No, by all means, kill something.

Anisu has the #1 best idea for dealing with running debates in there. Have the person running slowly let go of the debate for 10 seconds while the one that stayed instantly recovers. I hate the constant cries for "Make them stay" but I also hate the fact that you're stuck unable to do anything when you make someone pull out.
As for the debating in question, I do find it interesting overall. Otoh, I think that the 'winning decay' that occurs needs to work ALOT faster: have it so that in a 4 on 4 heated competition, there's still a winner after 2 hours unless everyone is just about EXACTLY equal. That should do the trick.

I love peaced influencing. If I was at home right now I would have been all over Estelbar (Unfortunetly, well not really, but I'm in the USA for the week) so I only have a laptop that lacks triggers. Anyways, peaced influencing is about the only useful thing I can do for Celest IC other than my adminstrative positions. I'm not a bad debator, and am further in influencing then any other skill. Anyways, I say again, peaced influence rocks my world! (Probably the fact I cannot fight, and just lose levels doing anything else adds quite a bit to it)
Unknown2006-03-02 03:21:14
I wish there was a replacement for debating, but the fact village influencing doesn't always come down to military force does add a bit of flavour once in a while.

I'm with Torak, and I used to really like influencing. It's too long. It's too repetitive. It's too much standing around, or worse, walking in circles looking for something to be laid back. Divert is the devil. Seriously, lately peaceful influencing has been excruciating.
