Decaying armours

I can understand if the admin do not want armour to be made into an artifact, but why the heck can we not repair helms and even shields (I can understand body armour as fullplate exists and weapons as great runes exist) to increase their decay time. Robes can be repaired indefinately, so why oh why can't helm be repaired.

My helm is is near decayed, while I've been forging literally hundreds upon hundreds of helms, I figured I'd relate this inequity..

Roark or another Admin care to comment? Thanks for your time.

I would guess because you can smelt armour down into its parts. With an all metal design, you effectively lose nothing.

You can't do that with say great robes.

Maybe hundreds of hours of your time means nothing to you, but it sure does to me. Mind you, that all the while there is NO certainty of ever getting the same stats you previously had.
Narsrim2006-03-05 08:25:19
Likewise, great robes can't be mended forever. Thus, it is a similar situation. In time, they will decay or be mended to rags.
Sylphas2006-03-05 08:26:31
Robes will turn to rags, and will cost a lot of money. Armor can cost nothing but the initial investment and time. Seems balanced to me. And you don't NEED super stats. One forging is much better than nothing.

Then my concern applies to robes too.

Incorrect.

If you die simply because you're a few points off here or there, something is wrong with some aspect of the combat. Either it needs fixed, or you need fixed.

It's not about dying or not dying. Become a blacksmith and a perfectionist and you might understand.

Edit: And if I DID get a helm after 300+? forges now that was within TEN stats of my current, I would be at least satisfied.
Ekard2006-03-05 10:29:30
In that case you haev too good helm and it have to decay tongue.gif

So what are stats on it?
Ixion2006-03-05 11:09:34
99/84 unruned.

Wow, here I'm wearing my robes with 41/59 and wondering why I get beheaded so quickly wacko.gif
Asarnil2006-03-05 13:56:20
That's because 2 handers are screwy.
Shorlen2006-03-05 14:27:41
Has anyone actually heard of greatrobes becoming rags in the past 10 game years? I am gold there was a bug a long time ago that caused them to become rags, but that it was fixed, and they can be mended indefinately.

My wild guess is that repairing will be implemented once armor 'damage' is.

Has anyone actually heard of greatrobes being mended four or more times? People end up letting them decay.

Mine almost decayed in that 12 months in 1 hour bug, but I got it mended in time. I'm certain I've gotten my mended at least 4 times before, then I forgot about them over the hollidays, and let them decay. sad.gif
Sylphas2006-03-05 21:37:15
I barely ever have the money to get robes, let alone keep them mended. sad.gif
Ixion2006-03-05 22:15:32
Money isn't the issue.

I'd pay pretty much anything to repair my helm indefinately.
Vix2006-03-05 22:24:42
Hm, armor resistance only reduces about a third of the damage you take, correct? What's the difference between a few percent or two? tongue.gif
