Out of curiosity, regarding Estarra's message about the major work involved in upgrading the MUD's Rapture Engine (which I assume affects all the games), I am a bit curious about what's involved in the process.

Just so we can understand any pain you guys are going through in the upgrade, and why it's being done.

Don't ask! Last time I asked, Estarra developed a nervous twitch in her eye and started reaching for my throat... luckily the twitch overcame her whole body so I ran while she was thrashing on the ground.

That just put the funniest mental image in my head.

What Raezon doesn't know is that it's actually Matt/Sarapis/whoever's mind control over Estarra. It's like ECT. Bad thought? Bzzzt. It's how you get a small handful of people to run a game similar to what it takes a mainstream company 50 people to maintain.

Well seriously, I am just curious.

I know the pain. This year I gotta take a system that's still on NT 4 and figure out all the various components. It's not a well documented set of systems, and get them all to run on a 2003 server, all intact. Dozens of little undocumented procedures, code, etc. And everything must run smoothly in the meantime.

So I feel their pain...

At least they know exactly how the original system is and were do you need to change things, because they coded it all, or those who did documented it.
