How are the loboshigaru race, and which knighthood specialization would best fit them- Blademaster or Bonecrusher? Or Aslaran, are they any good as either of those? Me and Ekard have been discussing this for a while, and now I'd really like to reincarnate soon, simply because Tae'dae are so slow. I was fighting a human warrior who could get me 4 times (2 combos) to my one, and an orclach who could do the same. Another question I have is how big of a difference would the sipping be, going from +3 to none or -1 for aslaran? I have a max of 1200 health as Tae'dae, what would I have as Loboshigaru or Aslaran? plz hlp kthxbai

I was going to answer this seriously, then I read the end so now I am just going to continue my response in this vein without giving any information on the subject apart from "SEARCH FOR SIMILAR TOPICS" because thats the kinda guy I am.

Since Asarnil is being a jerk (gasp), here's an actual answer:

Tae'dae are pretty sucky, really. Their high strength and tankiness really don't make up for the fact that you're ridiculously slow compared even to races with average speed, never mind fast races like Aslarans and Faelings.

If you've got only 1200 health, what level are you? You can't be more than level 20 or so, which means you're still a newbie and still just getting into combat. You might want to wait to reincarnate and see what style of fighting (damage, speed, wounds, hybrid, whatever) fits you best.
Hazar2006-03-15 20:52:57
A loboshigaru paladin could get pretty tanky, run right.

Lobo and aslaran are both pretty damned solid races.

I'd personally recommend aslaran, since they work really well for both BM and BC, since they have average strength/con (note that tons of strength boosts exist), excellent dex, a balance bonus and good intelligence for surge.

Lobo are effing tanks with solid strength, excellent dex and insane con, so I'd say they'd be best suited for slow wounding knights (e.g. using scimitars or morning stars rather than rapiers/hammers), since they'll have absolutely insane wounding, yet be considerably slower than an aslaran. Also note the magic weakness and poor intelligence for surge.

Tae'dae suck, for the record.

And sip penalties/bonuses are actually pretty central to combat. Since I was an aslaran for a damned long time, I can attest to the sheer rage of being absolved or beaten to a pulp simply because my sip is low. I still say the bonuses outweigh the disadvantages - better a solid race with a sip penalty than a crappy one with a bonus.

Well, I've played other IRE games, and I believe a faster fighting style is better for me, and I'll be using rapiers...Seeing as how I have already found a good set of master rapiers for sale...So, are Loboshigaru any good with rapiers?
Jack2006-03-15 21:53:23
I guess.

I think the perfect combo for lobo would be a wounding Pureblade, but that's just me.

Awwww, is that because I made fun of you and laughed at you when you overemphasised the merian weaknesses?

Though the rest of Shamarah's points aren't too bad. You might as well stay Tae'Dae until L60-70 or so, and then think about reincarnating then, and the right choice of race depends on a) your guild and cool.gif your specialisations (both weapon and secondary skillset). Choosing without taking both of those into account is kinda ineffective, though Lobo and Aslaran still stay strong choices regardless.

EDIT: Nah, I won't turn this newbie's thread into an argument.

Do consider that, unlike other IRE games, slow and steady knights actually stand a chance.

EDIT: I saw the post above's original, Shamarah. Bad boy.
Ixion2006-03-15 22:48:56
If you plan on using raps, definately aslaran.

Rightio.

Lobos would be good as a hybrid race. I don't think any fighters apart from Amaru use them though (and Amaru's a guardian, not a warrior).
Simimi2006-03-15 22:59:05
Yea Amaru does pretty well as an Lobo, it has started a trend, we are seeing more and more as time goes on...

I played a Lobo warrior up until level 50 before suiciding and I loved it, I did not pvp, but the pve was awesome, so much health, regen is godly.
If your curious, you could start anew as lobo, and then change later iof you wanted...

What was the name of that ur'guard loboshigaru axelord?

EDIT: Just remembered Ravlok
Hazar2006-03-15 23:08:15
There's a Lobo BM in the Ebonguard, forgot his name.
Stangmar2006-03-15 23:15:29
Ravlok
Shamarah2006-03-15 23:19:38
Oh, right. But he's not active anymore.
Yrael2006-03-15 23:26:51
Jadryga did pretty damn well as a lobo, and apart from bad jokes involving the word "lobo" they're pretty decent. You do, however, take extra magic damage from cosmicfire (A little) and moonburst, but I'm pretty sure that those are the only current magic attacks ingame. Annyway. She wasn't great, but she did pretty damn well with them, considering that she wasn't an awesomely skilled fighter in the first place.

As well as the health regen being pretty damn nice, as well as half decent stats.
Shamarah2006-03-15 23:28:27
It's not like cosmicfire is particularly strong anyway.

Moonburst, meh... you have 16 con, it wouldn't be that bad.

On the other side, you'll be practically immune to mages, having resistances to almost all their staff damage.
Stangmar2006-03-16 00:18:47
Yeah, I'm thinking about switching Aragrot to Lobo, but then remembered i already used his reincarnation sad.gif
