as your plan to drain the power of the Ravenwood so as to create a "Nexus" for your
manse, you are no longer welcome within the Glomdoring. As per our laws, your manse
is being disconnected- I doubt that you would ban yourself from entering Deepnight.
The Glomdoring is far more important than any manse, no matter what the size.
Members of the Glomdoring will also be asked to relinquish their holdings in
Deepnight, as well as departing your clans."

DEEPNIGHT NEWS #22
Date: 3/20/2006 at 8:53
From: Jack of Trades, Richter Carthan
To : Everyone
Subj: Power

Greetings everyone,

I wanted to try something new. I've let an algontherine bond with
Deepnight. I'm not going to be taking the city out into aetherspace, but
I wanted to have some other options, and I had some gold lying around.
In case anyone is wondering, the city has a calculated hull strength of
-six thousand-.

Since we don't seem to have a nexus, I'm using the entire city as a
temporary one. I'd like everyone that's able to help me gather power.
What you'll need to do (if your city or commune allows it) is do things
to generate power for your city or commune, and then draw extra power
from the nexus. For example, Glomdoring lets you draw extra power if you
put in extra power. You would then be able to put it into the city's
reserves.
I have personally added 77 units of power, my questing, and my
powerplex, will help us get more power.

Hopefully, we should be able to transfer the collected power in the city
to some kind of a nexus in the future, but for right now, this will
suffice. Naturally, only I have permissions to the door to the hidden
room, and only I have permissions to the module. I don't need anyone
else trying to take the ship out or anything, as that's not the purpose.
If you are able to help me put some more power in, please tell me.

I'd like to see power generated in large amounts, so that you can do it
all at once, instead of trying to find me for a bunch of little adds.
Remember also, that the nodes of Gaudiguch and Halifax still rise when
you complete the tasks that make them do so, and one can draw enormous
amounts of power from it, filling your personal reserve more than once
even.

I may be gone or busy for a bit with some important matters, so try and
fill your own reserves, and generate a good bit of power. In this way,
even the smallest of us can help, and we can start to fill up our own
"nexus".

-Richter

--------------------------

I'm a little confused, and a little angry. I believe my post triggered the series of events. I'm curious if someone took a few ooc comments ic, but I won't point fingers.

I've been less and less active recently, and this week, in anticipation of Oblivion (I was planning to stay off Lusternia for a week or so), I've practically halted all activity, save for trying to get House Snake in the Ebonguard started, and making that one post. I understand completely that the administration of the Glomdoring dislikes my attempt to build Deepnight, and it makes me sad. Deepnight is a fusion of nature and city, a place of peace, a conglomerate of the knowledge of Lusternia's peoples.

Richter had come to dislike the direction that Glomdoring had gone, and had never really been "with it". All that he asked was to carry out his reirement in peace and quiet. Unfortunately, Xenthos has hounded him every step of the way, Shayle has been a complete pain any time Richter deals with her. I even go semi-inactive, and they go out of their way to disrupt my character's life.

This is all very dissappointing, and an unhappy way to take my break from Lusternia.
Narsrim2006-03-21 06:39:41
Wow. I don't know the words to provide comfort, but I really sense some injustice here.
Daganev2006-03-21 06:45:26
I'm both sad and not surprised at all...

Richter the charachter has been trying to take too much and not give any which doesn't work well in glomdoring, especially in this day and age.

But thats part of the game that is staying alive in the Glom
Richter2006-03-21 06:53:17
I offered to start a massive project to take my personal ship, and try to drain thousands of power into the Ravenwood. I was starting House Snake within the Ebonguard with my own money, to be reimbursed to me only if I was successful in creating the organization.

The last of the Disciples have gone, and the old vision of Glomdoring is no more.
Unknown2006-03-21 06:53:43
I want to see someone create a manse that is a fusion of Light and Taint. wink.gif

The treerippers encountered a similar issue when we tried to get a glomdoring Arena made by the Clan... Glomdoring is a communist commune.
Xenthos2006-03-21 07:02:37
It was entirely IC, I'm afraid... at least as far as I know. Xen was going off of the information provided to him by members of the Deepnight clan who read the post.

I don't like it much, but... there have been a few things which kind of added up to this outcome. You know Xen was trying to talk to Richter, the conversation topic was "leaving the Glomdoring," though he wanted to do it with a discussion and a mutual parting of ways, leaving Deepnight attached and Richter unenemied (the only time I saw you was during the Court meeting, which was a REALLY bad time). With that already waiting to happen, this kind of tipped the scale. Especially when seen as "taking power from the Glomdoring to create a Nexus in his manse," which may or may not have been your intended path, but that is the way it was received. sad.gif
Tsuki2006-03-21 07:04:21
Oh my. ohmy.gif

If that's all there was to it, I sympathize for you as it does seem to be a bit extensive to oust, enemy, outguild. What were those votes for outguilding about, by the way? Being involved in a commune's politics as I am, though, I'm aware that there can be much that goes on that becomes a part of decisions. And yes, there was the "Due to recent events... things that we discussed" that I see ... though it's potentially odd if things were discussed and allowed then suddenly not okay anymore without further action or discussion. It could happen, but it would depend on the severity of what'd been going on and what was then the straw that broke the camel's back bit. dunno.gif Guess I'm saying I can understand how the decision parts could've been made while still sympathizing with you for being on the receiving end of the decision.

At least now you can focus on Oblivion and know that I'll be envious of you being able to play it?

I can certainly see why Celest/Serenwilde/Magnagora/Glomdoring wouldn't want power funneled, not into the use of their own members interests (even if they allow them to take it under normal circumstances) but to fund the creation of another Nexi.

Even though Serenwilde allows all wards to draw 40 power; if I knew that every weave 20 wards were drawing 800 power total and placing it in a ship, to one day forge a new Nexi...

Well I'm not saying the outguilding/oastrasizing is warranted, but certainly it's a funny situation that would have been looked into by me.

Nexi power is meant for the use of its members, to ultimately help the nation where the Nexi is, in some way (even round about ways like trade skills or hunting, which supports civilian populations and helps a nation grow and thrive). Trying to use that power (even if it's allowed under normal circumstances) to, in specific, fund a Nexi that will be separate from that Nation, and whos interests could be in contrary to that nation in the future...

Again, don't flame on me here, but I can understand where the Glomdoring leadership is coming from.
Richter2006-03-21 07:12:13
They needed to vote, because I was fairly high rank. They knocked me down two commune ranks because I was drinking with Arix, so I was down to CR4, and I am GR19.

Also, my offer to start the aethership project was completely rejected. I use what tools I have to help, and in this case, I wanted to use my very expensive ship.

Anyway, back on topic. I replied to Xenthos' request to talk to me. No talk was ever had. And you'll note that I said, if your city or commune allows it, and to place extra power in, so that you can take extra power out. I don't even act agressively towards an enemy organization, no harm was intended towards my own.
Tsuki2006-03-21 07:15:28
I knew y'had to vote to oust commune people above a certain rank, just didn't know the same was true with guildranks.

This is the end of a long series of things like this (like the aforementioned two commune disfavours for drinking with Arix).

That you did. Your response was that you'd be away for a while and likely wouldn't be able to speak except through messages. The subject didn't seem right for messages, I wanted to actually discuss it with you instead of a simple message saying, "Hey, I appreciate what you've done for us, now get going." I did see you once. As I said, however, it was at a very bad time. I was still planning on waiting until we actually *could* talk, but then this post came about... we took it the same way Zenji did, and that was the final straw on the whole affair. sad.gif
Shryke2006-03-21 07:27:37
Yeah, that was pretty bad... I really didn't want to vote, but it appeared that it was rather selfish on your part to ask for others to drain their nexii (though I did point out that it was only bonus power), but ICly Glomdoring isn't going to support deepnight, and your apparent plans to create a nexus using our power as well as others wasn't gonna happen. Also you had problems in the past with the authority of shayle and such, so it wasn't exactly a HUGE surprise... I'm rather dissapointed though sad.gif Have fun in your trips... Go hunting and you can start your own city warrior hunters guild smile.gif

Looking at this positively... doesn't it mean you can call yourself truly neutral now? Maybe open a few new doors for Deepnight?

Yes and no, any part of neutrality he has gained that will help him gain acceptance with more people is surely overcompensated for by the fact that Glomdoring just enemied him and has told their members to leave him be.
Richter2006-03-21 07:41:02
Yes, and no. No, because if I was to ever leave Glomdoring, it was to be on peaceful terms, though I'd not figured out how to do that yet. There were a few I liked in Glomdoring, like Adracunin and Xenthos, and I wanted to (if I ever did leave) sever ties as quietly as possible.

Then there was the link to Glomdoring, which I knew would be cut if I left, as well as not having access to all of my skills. Remember, I was rogue for a good amount of time founding Glomdoring before the rest of the ninnies came along, so I dislike the idea of not having all of my skills.

So yes, it opens a few doors, but it closes a good many as well. Thankfully, I forgot night and chose hunting as soon as I found out.

Right. I can perhaps now deal with Serenwilde again (I wasn't enemied, but they had their "You're tainted!" speech ready every time I walked the Alabaster Road), but I'm enemied to Glomdoring. It really didn't get me anywhere.

This is actually what I wanted to do. Give you an easy way out, offer to leave Deepnight connected as long as it still complied with our policies, and with the assurances that he wouldn't be enemied simply for leaving. I don't know how this post would have gone over even with that out of the way, however.

Anyone who has Night/Crow/geomancy/necromancy/ect skills Zenji considers tainted, even if their clasifyed 'race' isn't viscanti/shadow faeling. tongue.gif
Richter2006-03-21 08:19:50
Which is idiocy, because nothing about me has changed, yet I no longer have night. So, now I'm "not tainted". Serenwilders and Celestians are so full of crap, in game, with that kind of thinking.
