Should this be possible?

Narsrim descends from above.

A renewed aura of prismatic energy surges from the top of Narsrim's head and surrounds him.

A jagged line of sparkling motes ripples in the air, and out steps a dryad tree. Pirouetting in
place, its skin hardens into tree bark and its outstretched arms sprout leaves.

Narsrim's prismatic barrier flickers and retreats into the top of his skull.
A plague lord says, "Make no mistake, Narsrim. If you violate our city, I will kill you."

Before the Megalith of Doom.
Rising up from cracks in the floor, the Megalith of Doom towers above everything here, polluting the
air with its foul fumes. There are 5 plague lords here. There are 15 Ur'Guard Grand Marshals here. There
are 2 monolith sigils here. A graceful tree
stands here, shaped vaguely like the form of a woman.
You see exits leading southeast and southwest.

You hear the sound of tinkling silver bells and see a ball of light bobbing in the air before you.

Spreading your arms wide, you spin clockwise and visualize a circle of protection. A shimmering

You cease to stand firm against attempts to move you.

Apart from me being annoyed that I died shortly after the end of that quote (mostly my fault because I shielded instead of transversing), I saw a few things that made me ask: Why is it possible to 1) summon fae without barrier dropping? 2) forest from the trees (especially without a message being given to the people in the room below)?

Why is it even possible at all for druids to forest/meld on the cosmic planes if mages can't on faethorn/ethereal serenwilde/ethereal glomdoring?

Before you post saying "Blah blah, you could've attacked him" It wouldn't have made any difference. I couldn't have gotten any afflictions on him that would've stopped him getting the dryad tree out or any to kill him before he could leave the room and that's not my point anyway - why can you summon fae without barrier dropping and forest a room from the trees?
Narsrim2006-03-21 08:05:49
1. Summoning a tree isn't aggressive because its a tree. It doesn't really "hurt" or "attack" anything anymore than putting up thirdeye.

2. Druids can forest from trees and meld in trees because they are in fact Druids. Go figure that people who deal with trees have advantages in them.

3. The argument, finally made by the administration at one point, was that Ethereal counts as the "elemental" plane for Druids. A druid cannot forest on Earth/Water just as Mages cannot taint/flood on Ethereal. Cosmic has nothing whatsoever to do with mages/druids.

==============================================

And if it makes you feel better, I can take 20 guards for 1 round anyways.
Drago2006-03-21 08:09:23
So you'd have no problem if geomancers could taint and meld while burrowed underground without you getting a single message that it had happened?

I'd be cool with that, but what would Aquas get? They're kinda screwed when it comes to special elevations.
Unknown2006-03-21 08:24:14
They can dive!

I agree, there should be a message that says "Hey, this room just changed a whole bunch." However, the reality to your situation was that it didn't matter. You got a message for wisp and totally failed to use it. What difference (even though its a good idea) would an additional forest message have provided you?
Drago2006-03-21 08:41:58
A little more then "Woo, wisp out of nowhere have fun!" and don't reflexivly hit shield either otherwise you'll get summoned before you regain eq?
Unknown2006-03-21 08:44:18
Why didn't they follow him up into the trees?
Drago2006-03-21 08:53:59
I'm guessing he just walked out and then Munsia walked in *shrug*

I climbed up and walked out, technically.

A tree at the Megalith?

The Megalith should have drained it dry.. sucked the life out of it.. and Narsrim would have fallen out of it amidst decaying branches to bounce painfully on his bottom, right into the feet of a Plague Lord.

That's what should have happened.

It makes sence from a rp perspective but it does make druids insanly powerful when dealing with guards. Until guards can see people in the trees or pull them down when they enter druids shouldn't be allowed to bypass guards and demensce so easily.

The demesne had nothing to do with this. The forest did so I could wisp, which is changing.

Im not talking about just this case but It dosnt change the fact that you could have had a demensce easily there ignoring the guards and making it pretty much unbreakable for the defenders. Mages cant do this they need to kill the guards to get their demensce in play giving the defenders a safe room unless the guards are killed.

What type of crap is it when summoning fae isn't agressive but trying to put up a a defense is?
