Hey everyone, I was just looking around the forums, and was thinking about sleeping and such. As far as I know, the only defences I have against sleeping are Insomnia, Metawake, and the Kafe bean. Now, The way I see it, most people just use metawake. Does it have any advantage over the kafe bean, or are both equally good in making you wake up quickly? Thing is, I'm a Shadowlord Faeling IG, and when I surge, the mana loss from metawake is quite draining most of the time while I'm surged, so, I guess I'm asking two questions here-
Does Metawake have any advantage over the eating of a Kafe bean?
When do I turn Metawake on to use it effectively?
On a totally unrelated note: I'm thinking of getting a pair of scimitars made. As a Shadowlord Faeling, what kind of stats should I be looking for on the scimitars? Looking to be a speed bleeding knight with rends and what not.
Oh, and um, does anyone know how to make a log using MUSHclient? Do I just copy and paste whatever I want to make a log of in Microsoft word? Or is there a button I could use to make a log of things?
Responses are appreciated. Thank you!

Kafe and Insomnia are base defenses. You are totally screwed without them so they should always be there just because.
Metawake is good against people who whore sleep (like me). While you won't ever stay asleep, it has a hella-nasty mana drain (and willpower drain). Also, Wiccans/Guardians have mana-based instant kills so that's another major factor.
With that said, I find its just better to risk it and put it up at the beginning of the fight and then turn it off at some point if you absolutely must.

Metawake's nasty drains make it a terrible defence. I spend most of my time giggling when someone says they used it in a spar.

Anyone who doesn't use it is pretty much dead against me.

For question about scimitars.
Max base precision on scimitar is 235. Max total stats to rune weapon with Great runes is 463.
So any scimitar with 225+ precision and total stats of 263+ is nice. Most likely you could get around 160-180 speed so with faeling speed it will be really nice. Damage vary from like 80-130.
So somethinkg like that would be really nice: 80/225/160 - total 465. But its possible to get total stats around 480. But you wont be able to put arties on such without lowering their stats first.
Also if you want to be fast maybe rapiers will be better choice. 50/180-190/230 would be really nice for you. Very hard to get, but possible.
Max speed for rapier is 279. So rapier with top speed could be very very fast for faeling but wong get better precision then 150-160 on it.

Thanks for your fast replies guys! Very much so for those stats Ekard. Oh, and as for the Metawake vs kafe one, that's why I don't know when to use it. Against most Wiccans, I get locked up so fast without Focus mind/spirit and sleep that I can't do anything about it. I'm rather fearful about the insta-kills as well, but I'll experiment with metawake on and off. The main thing for me is just the mana and willpower drain. But I'll see what I can do about it.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Personally I use kafe and insomnia as base defences, and i'll put up metawake against narsrim and whoever else.
Don't use metawake while surged as a number 1 rule, don't fight guardians or wiccans while surged either.
As a faeling, i'd be going the absolute MAX you can get on precision, the mininum on damage and the rest into speed. You have a 30% speed bonus compared to my 20% speed bonus as Aslaran, so with your speed being a little lower you should be hitting for similar wounding to me but just slightly slower (not taking into account arties)
If you want to use rapiers, go for about 240 speed or so, as speed drops off somewhat after that. Go for 34 damage and have the rest as wounding. Faelings with rapiers can be fast and you get some good combo's going.
I used to be a shadowlord faeling bonecrusher and yeh its pretty nice the speeds you can get up to.
At the end of the day, you want to be able to wound fast over time, so either take big wounding weapons, or go fast ones both have disadvantages and advantages, why not get 2 sets so you can decide? Lyco had 2 sets and he used them well.

I've considered having two sets as well, but more the reasons of - One for bashing(rapiers), one for fighting ( scimitars), but in a spar, how will I know when to switch from what to what? Does it depend on situation? Or does it work like what I had in mind? I've seen logs of people switching swords/weapons when they fight, but know not when to actually do it. Any advice on that?
Murphy2006-03-25 16:34:48
i'd use the scimitars to get some limbs wounded, then use the rapiers to deal out the fast afflictions while the limbs are in a state to be able to be wounded

Shadowlord Faeling is FASTER than Aslaran, I think that's what you meant to write.
ferlas2006-03-25 17:03:30
He ment the weapon speed being a little lower sham, going for better wounding weapons with less speed because he has natural speed to compensate.
Murphy2006-03-25 17:29:19
yeh, faeling 30% bonus > aslaran 20% bonus THEREFORE he can have a bit slower weapons and still be damn quick.
