Could be a very bad idea to post this... A new guild, probably with new archetype.

Ok, if there is already an idea like this, please don't kill me. I'm new. But this was my idea: A guild called the... Uhm... The Shadowdwellers. The idea is that these people don't care about who's superior and if there is someone superior. All they care about is money. Taint or Light can hire these people to kill a target at the other side. Or maybe on the same side. But, since i don't see any archetype fitting in, the creation of such a guild would need a new archetype: the assassin.
Please don't shoot, slash, rip, smack, or anything else painful me?

Sounds like a less snuggly Glomdoring.

Sounds nothing like that to me, sounds like a mercanary organisation designed for thieves.

That was more or less what it was supposed to be...
ferlas2006-03-29 12:39:55
I'd be happy with a merc organisation, I would not be happy with a thief organisation, thats all I have to say really.

I keep hearing that there's something like that in the works. As and when it happens, hop into it, and then see what you can do to make the Guild you're in take up that sort of RP. Cos Lusty does need a little more neutrality, and that would be quite a fun line to pursue.
Narsrim2006-03-29 14:24:17
The Indra guild in Imperian was a thief/assassin guild that was soooooo awesome.
Ikul2006-03-29 16:56:48
Hey! Nobody told me this was the dumbest idea they ever heard! Yay!
Unknown2006-03-29 17:31:44
The name leaves ALOT to be desired, though....nice idea. Maybe not original, but nice
Richter2006-03-29 18:45:13
It needs a new name.
Also, if you're going to propose an idea, you may as well include some details. As an example... I thought we should be able to do some things with manses, so I crafted an entire new skillset. Others have done the same things with stuff like pyromancy, etc.
My manse/city/thing is going to be looking for three groups of people sometime in the future. The first will be mercenaries, which are warriors with hunting, but there's always two other open slots. Since we can't actually make our skills, it will be groups of like-minded individuals. That's always an option.
Oh, and P.S., if you're going to propose an idea, don't shoot it down before everyone else does. If you start a thread with a title "Could be a very bad idea to post this", no one is going to take you seriously. Can you imagine a corporate executive going to a board meeting, and starting off with "You guys aren't going to like this" or "I'm not sure this is a good idea"?

The one thing I read into the first post that I think is really nice and might be REALLY hard to pull off, is the lack of Heirarchy.
It would esentially be a guild with no leaders, and no guildranks and no guildfavours. That could be really intresting and work really well, or it could work really poorly.
I'd like to see it.

It would have to either have some kind of structure, like the theives guild in Oblivion (many people say there's so such guild, because theives could never have an organizational structure), or it could be survival of the fittest, you'd have to do something or kill someone to become the leader. -That's- an interesting idea.

The thing is, i've been in the game for two days and this was my first post on the boards.

Kudos for being new to the game and proposing an idea that I don't laugh at and doesn't make me want to propose banning newbies from the forums It would add an interesting element to the game. Especially if avenger treated them differently somehow. Maybe they could kill a person twice without getting avengered, not getting status until a third kill, and that would be in exchange for avenger not protecting them at all, or something. Just throwing things around

No chance a guild of thieves that can bypass avenger better than anyone else just sounds like it would attract the entirely wrong sort of people.
Arix2006-03-29 19:59:54
I'd join that guild
Hazar2006-03-29 20:24:18
I sort of like the idea, but thief/assasin type guilds can attract particularly vile depths of 'l33tness' and 'pwnz0rs'.
Just a point to consider.

What kind of people would a guild of assassins be supposed to attract? They couldn't be very good at assassinating if avenger was as mean to them as everyone else. Was just a thought anyway.

But at least they wouldn't be in other guilds any more. We can just put them all in one spot, and everyone would be allowed to kill them
Arix2006-03-29 20:30:15
Would this guild be like the Idras?
Shamarah2006-03-29 20:51:02
It's not a bad idea, but it just doesn't work in the context of the game, because if you help one city raid the other you'll get enemied to the city you're raiding and they won't let you work for them, in which case you might as well have joined the city you were working for in the first place.
Also, all guilds have to belong to a city or commune.
