Skill text: As a master of your natural environment, you are immune to naturally occuring waves and currents.
Basic logical points behind the skill:
1) trans environment should be useful
2) trans environment is not currently useful(yay weathersight?)
3) waves/currents suck when trying to travel.
This skill would make trans environment worth having..
Name and skilltext entirely tentative, of course.

I always wanted Environment for the roleplay of it (seeing weather outside and whatnot), but there are just so much more important skills to gofor. I like that idea Vis.

I suggested weathersight see through dust storm, which would make it very useful
Acrune2006-04-05 19:18:07
It should also be in Aquamancy. Still tired of getting thrown around in my own demesne. *mutter*

I would love to have an ability like this to prevent being constantly tossed about and lose in the seas until I find a shore again. I haven't learned the last couple ranks of Environment because I already have swinging and clinging in Totems. Seems pointless to make those abilities so high, above more useful things.

If more people used winter you'd find weathersight more usefull
Unknown2006-04-05 20:12:54
I want to use Winter, but it'd usually do more harm than good by blocking all my allies view and allowing our enemies to escape more easily. Probably much better as a defensive or escape tactic, I imagine.

If winter lasted longer, I might use it more often (it's based on temperature of the area, so some areas it instantly dissappears, and apparently manses are very hot places).

I'd like to see a low-level aquamancy skill for waves and a low-level geomancy one for dealing with the quakes in the Mountains of Madness. This could still be a trans environment skill; much like trackers get their abilities to go to different terrain elevations earlier.

Erm, I thought manses were indoors, so you couldn't use winter?

Personally i'd like to see trans environment have maybe a powered ability that works identical to a mass salve.
No tree lifting effects (apart from raise cudgel) no movement effects, no tackling no summon, no demesne summon, everything that a mass salve would prevent it should. That would be a trans skill worth getting.

That sounds good, with a decent mana drain while on though.
Murphy2006-04-06 12:00:00

Noo.... I won't be able to handle charismaticaura, metawake and this one at once!

Crap, you'll have to like sip health and/or eat sparkleberry. The pain!
Verithrax2006-04-06 16:14:41
Waterbourne should definitely protect against waves.
Murphy2006-04-06 17:23:23
like i said, make it work like a mass salve, or at least provide protection against all passive forms of movement (and bypass rubble to make it fair on geos) Call it something to do with walking strong

Well if it is going to block treelife, it should block some silly stones trying to slam you into the ground!
Ialie2006-04-06 18:01:35
I think a environment skill should be adaptation and you gain lvl 1 regen in all natural environments

Nah, I couldn't keep them all with healing in a pvp situation.
