Well, I'm coming back to the game as my Celestine character (Celestines reading this should figure out who I am quickly). I was wondering what the general strategy for a Celestine is? Mess 'em up, then absolve? Try for an inquisition? Just damage? I'm trans Celestialism, close to trans sacraments (like 5 credits away), and I have Virtuoso Astrology, although I may dump that, depending on what you guys say.
Thanks in advance.

Try for all; it depends entirely who you're fighting and what opening you see.
Astrology seems cool. If you're a fast race then astrology really can mess people up real quick. Ask thoros: he uses his celestine skills (and curses scroll!) much more than tarot.

Tarot >>>>> Astrology right now. Hopefully Astrology will get a bit better with the envoys.
Basically your ways of boil down to:
-quickened cosmicfire (high int races only, non-tanky opponents only)
-judgement (most people won't die to it though, they'll tumble out; better in groups)
-inquistion
-soulless (tarot only)
-absolve
You'll want to change your attacking style based on the target.

For a Celestine, the only huge pluses to Tarot are aeon (which Astrology has) and hanged man. They make up for it with potential buffs... I would say Astrology is so so for them, but not vastly inferior.

Soulless? Lust? Catacombs? Moon?
Also, Astrology can't give aeon to everyone, so Tarot's aeon is more reliable.

You'll want to go for quickened-amissio/absolve or inquisition/cosmicfire, in general.
Shryke2006-04-08 20:08:02
But with astrology you could do quicken aeon aeon
Unknown2006-04-09 06:21:14
Tarot really isn't that great. Hangedman aeon lust (mages) and soulless are really the only good offensive tarot cards. Moon afflicts suck, too easily cured, judge too easy to cure, lovers too easy to cure, etc. I say go a fast equilibrium race if your going to use astrology (Mugwump, merian) and if your going to use tarot go faeling or aslaran. Insta-kills are really the only way to go, cosmicfire damage sucks, Celestines suck at afflicting others compared to Nihilists or hex users. The best way to afflict someone up would be to either be an aslaran/faeling or mugwump, aslaran/faeling for tarot (aeon hangedman moon for some extra afflicts) and mugwump for heretic/infidel/inquisition/curse scroll speed.
Personally I'm a mugwump only because I'm nuts for afflicting people to death (Was a serpent from Achaea) and I like to invest the angel with 7 useful afflictions, put up wrath, enable quickening and read the curse scroll to death.
From what I can see your Merian, so your best bet would to kill via heretic/infidel/inquisition and go for soulless, or amissio/absolves, though also Merian are probably the only class that can efficiently kill with cosmicfire pretty well due to high int. I'd say to also get a Scroll of Curses, enable quickening and read away for some pretty fun afflicts. Also keep astrology, and a strategy for that would be quickening + offensive astrology moves.

Thanks for the input, just a few questions.
About how long does quickening last/how many attacks would I be able to get off with it?
What are scrolls, exactly? I left before they were implemented. Also, how much do they cost (about) and how long do they last?

Scrolls (I assume you mean magicscrolls, not writing scrolls) do one of four things.
Healing: on its own (long) balance heals a tiny amount of ego/mana/health. (But there's no drawback to using it so it's kinda handy.)
Curses: does random afflictions from a set list to the target it's read to, using equilibrium up to do so.
Disruption: if a mage isn't deaf (NB: he is) unlocks psionic channels, so abilities like forcefield that prevent you leaving the room are negated.
Protection: the most commonly bought one, uses up eq and has a delay to put up a shield that protects you from certain demesne effects, but that can instantly be taken down by a druid/mage without losing them eq. So you can't use it in combat, but in a village or in group combat or something you can run around and only get hit by half the effects, so it's very useful for those kinds of things.
I don't know how much everyone else sells them for but Nejii sells them at about 1000-1200 per. They last 60 months (?) or so but they need enchanted and they run out of charges much faster than they decay. If they hit 0 charges they're toasted though, so you need to keep them filled up.

Celestines don't need strategy, silly.
Just randomly click away at your offensive macros and you'll soon be Champion.
See: Thoros, Ethelon.

Rofl. Ethelon and Thoros are both far superior combatants to you and 99% of Lusternia.

Ethelon's good. I only mentioned him because I was feeling pissed off at the time.
Thoros was crap on Achaea and he's worse here. I mean christ, he can't even grasp the PK rules.

Stop the personal attacks...
Doesn't matter who a person is, but one's combat ability has nothing to do with understanding PK rules. And it has nothing to do with the topic. (incase those of you who are missunderstanding the apparent 'inconsistant' moderation of personal attacks)

Mugwumps speed and int prove to be better damagers than a merians extra int and slower speed. Well in the long run anyway better dps. Celestines have great opportunitys to afflict people a lot dont underestimate the afflictions that the build up to inquisiton will give.
thoros:

Well technically with decent curing you can cope with anything a nilhist or a hexer can throw at you, you cant against a celestine without serious hindering or running.

Seems someone is a bit angry.
If your the Jack from Achaea, that was funny how I tri-killed you in Kasmarkin with hypnosis hypersomnia backstab delph doublestab delph delph camus death.
On another note, your personal attacks to me mean nothing, as I've proven my combat skill against many of the other combatants in this game.
