This was my first spar with a new system, and I'm not much of an experienced fighter anyway. He had no quicksilver so I got lucky in the beginning. Any tips for other things I could have done better in curing or offense (keep in mind I only have discipline up to Insomnia)?

Alright, to begin you should use your pooka, you could of ordered a few things, even to relax metawake. Also, you just stood there while he inquisitioned, you need to run like hell or shield whore when they start it. Don't even let it his step two. You also need to work on your offense, you had him really messed up, you should of started lashing and tried to toad curse, I can almost say 100% sure he was curseable with the banshee working its magic and him having troubles curing like that. Use darkmoon too, use the room one though since he has focus spirit.

Couple things:

Your hexing seemed pretty good. One thing I encourage you to do is use hex disperse if you get lost as far as what is drawn and what is not and just restart with 6 glyphs. At one point, it seems as if you were uncertain as to what you had used and what was remaining - it happens to me all the time. Just disperse, redraw, and go from there.

Also, you were lashing a lot with 2p. Bad idea. Chances are you won't be able to keep someone down long enough to recover 6p to toad. They will either run, shield whore, web whore, etc. Try going for damage instead with sensitivity mixed in there somewhere (which you seem to be using).

As for Inquisition, Heretic is your red flag. Some people wait till Infidel to run, but I find its a whole lot easier to just run once heretic starts. Climb up in a dryad tree with sylph and sit it out.

Other than that, the only reason you lost was crappy health. Inquisition isn't easy to pull off, but it happens even when you are expecting it and trying to run. The last time I sparred Thoros, he got me with it, but thankfully, I was able to tank the damage (just barely) and shield/recover.

Another neat trick if someone starts whoring soulless: order target ind soulless smile.gif

tongue.gif Yeah I'll admit I was a lil messed up in the beginning, I had no angel, wasn't very deffed and just wanted to get the spar over quick. After I ran I deffed got angel and got with the program. Overall, fun spar. Also, I went down to 2.1k mana, not enough for a toadcurse.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far! Here's what I've got:

- Fix and use pooka (I had pooka message highlighted and several ordering aliases, but apparently I didn't import them correctly and deleted my old settings file...wasn't smart)

- Fix other offensive aliases (lash, hexes, etc weren't all working correctly. This is part of why I got mixed up with what hexes were drawn in the middle like Narsrim pointed out - I tried to throw them and my alias had the wrong hex name)

- Watch for heretic and use dryad/etc to escape and wait it out

- Go for damage instead of mana damage with low power

That cover most of it?

As for offense, I think one of my biggest problems is with power management. I like using doublewhammies, but that rarely leaves enough power to work with things like dark moon, and it's hard to keep someone sleeplocked (or even slowed down) long enough to regain power for the toadcurse when I'm using 4 power each time they wake up. Any ideas how I can manage feats better?

ferlas2006-04-07 09:47:40
Just do at most two doublewhammys at once, aside from that there isn't much else to spend power on other than dumping room effects at the start. With that youl'll go down to 6 power only needed to regen two to cure which is easy enough to do, also against some classes you dont want to go lower than 6 power anyway just incase you need to do anything tricky to get out of their combo attack. Although against people like thoros just go for damage it'll put him on the defensive he'll have to shield or timeslip spam, means you get to sit back and regen power nicely.

Damn, there really should be some kind of defense against pooka...

There is (against this trick) if you think about it. Or I guess you could ask Amaru smile.gif
ferlas2006-04-07 19:13:45
numbers would counter that trick

Huh?

Oh come on thats a glaringly obvious clue
Xenthos2006-04-07 19:24:03
Or just put the deck in your backpack... (not actually knowing how the cards work, this may not actually do anything. Seems like it should do the trick, however).
Torak2006-04-07 19:26:42
Soulless on a wiccan isn't smart anyways unless you kill the damned pooka.

I'm impressed. That's exactly what amaru does.
Unknown2006-04-07 19:47:12
I thought about backpack but it's troublesome, need balance to do that.
Torak2006-04-07 19:48:16
If you let the pooka live they should never die to a soulless.

Come on, look at the text under my avatar and just do tell.

Packs one way, its also simplier than what I was going to do, I was actually thinking about having two tarrot cards numbers and make sure than the correct numbered one was the second to be placed in the deck, so that I get forced to ind and then I can keep the rubbed one out and put in the useless one, then just outd another dummy tarrot with the wrong number every time. Pack seems easier.
Unknown2006-04-07 20:24:47
Hmm... drawing a card after putting one in the deck wouldn't guarantee a lower number.
Anyway, I don't like any of those and I'd prefer a defence against pooka.
