Looks like there are new shrine-types: War, Shield, and Healing, each with their own special powers.

I so now need to join an Order...
Shamarah2006-04-15 20:38:21
They sound interesting, and though some of them look overpowered, I'll wait to draw conclusions.
Look cool though! Nice job Divine

Isune! Come BAAACK!
EDIT: On another note, though, I think the Divine have been spending too much dev time on things that only affect limited sections of the playerbase (Order members and Aethership owners.) Time for a new Archetype or some feature everyone will enjoy?

A good chunk of the playerbase is either in an order or associates with them. They are vital to the game.

I know! We need more people to join so we can convince Terentia to ally with us! Might not be worth it for the 9-10 order members though And Verithrax isn't allowed to join.
Verithrax2006-04-15 20:47:18
We also need more active gods... There are too few orders right now.

I always wanted trueheal. I don't care if this is a watered-down version.
Someone else want to test the essence cost on this beast?

Changes like this affect the entire playerbase over time, actually. I'd rather see a lot of changes that were spread over the entire game and adding to it like this rather than a new archetype that truly would affect limited sections of the playerbase.
I'm sure a lot more is being planned for the future if this doesn't suit your fancy, but I think it's interesting nonetheless.

A new archetype would affect everyone. It changes the economics of t he game (Different needs for commodities, armour, weapons, and herbs). It changes combat by adding another set of skills and thus another set of complexities, another type of oponent, and another set of organizations. It chages politics because it creates an additional council seat in every city and commune.
It's very naive to think it only affects people who switch to that archetype.

And who's to say other changes won't do the same thing? Envoys, new events, random updates and "Lusternization" of general IRE systems also add to the uniqueness, roleplay, and even politics of the game. Sure, it may not result in a new council seat or a completely new set of skills so the top-tier combatants will shout for spars or post on the forums for trigger requests, but everything helps the world develop in its own way.
I'd just be grateful that they actually did decide to finish up with this when they could be dividing the Rapture code amongst themselves and updating what's been planned. .

I'm not talking exclusively about new archetypes. Smaller stuff like new areas, getting envoys done, getting Artisans and Bookbinders to be useful and profitable would be interesting things that affect everyone, too.

Well, uh.. We're both on the same page I guess.
Doooon't mention Bookbinders. I cringe at the mistake I made with that (And here I'm talking about others being ungrateful.. ).
Anyway! It's all in the works though. There's just too much on everyone's plate, I guess.

Bolded for inconsistency. Envoys take huge amounts of time, coding, and resources. Also, I totally disagree with the notions Artisanry is not profitable. I had to provide and INSANE amount of gold just for my throne on top of the commodities... and I shopped around.
Verithrax2006-04-15 21:59:03
Note the word 'Smaller'. That word is different from the word 'small' because, you see, it's a comparison. I'm comparing something to something else. To what I am comparing? If you read the context, you'll see that I am stating that getting envoy changes done is smaller than a new archetype. not a small task, but it's definitely less than producing three full new skillsests.
As for Artisan... The reason it's so expensive is that so few people buy.

Gonna have to meet with my 3 active ordermates and decide what kind of shrines to put where
