I've been saying some interesting things on the forums lately, and you might've come across the enigmatic phrase "Where are those papers on game design written by Greg Costikyan whnen I need them?" Well, if you're wondering what those papers are, and who is that Costikyan person anyway, look no further. This is what I'm talking about. It's required reading from now on. Occasionally, during arguments, I'll talk about it. I'll even be so amazingly pedantic as to actually say things like 'You obviously didn't read Costikyan's paper.' So, go read it.
I have no words and I must design

Game design is an artform. That guy is a major theorist in it. He's also responsible for Paranoia. That makes him a gaming god.

Interesting article. As for "must reads", I'd recommend Henry Kissinger's Diplomacy.

Or "Pattern recognition". I love William Gibson's modern stuff. And his old stuff, but not quite as much.
And while you're there, read Shogun by James Clawell.
Posting for no reason other than you can is fun!
