Well, in my little holiday from Lusternia, I was looking for something undemanding to play in the meantime... I'm just curious if there are any Lusternian's that have tried Dofus online? I love the cute graphics and the unusual turn-by-turn combat, and the lack of anything approaching RP is in some ways a little refreshing. tongue.gif

The game 'client' is actually macromedia flash, so it works on any computer that can view flash websites. There is one area that is free-to-play (and hence quite full of idiotic children), and unfortunately the rest is accessed only through a small subscription. But, I'm just loving exploring and building up these amusing characters.

If you're interested - Dofus Online. It's actually from a french company, so only one server (Rushu) of four is english-based. They've had a few connection problems over the past few days, so if you can't connect just try again later.

Oh, and a screenshot for Shiri:

Eh, it was cute and all, but I couldn't get into it. I blame the flash engine - I can't stand not being able to rightclick and the display lag inherent in Flash.

That looks cool! Thanks for the link biggrin.gif Maybe I'll polish up my French while I'm at it laugh.gif

Mo' like DOOFUS!

On a side-note, French people suck.

Hrm, looks like fun. I'm in!

I must be a dofus because I can't figure out what to do for the first quest.. where to find feathers etc.

Maybe I should make 20 billion chars to figure them out and then decide on one..

Nah, some areas of the documentation is pretty light. I found the Dofus Wiki site very helpful for anything I didn't understand how to do. smile.gif

Ok maybe I just have bad luck, but I picked that class thats an old man/old lady and Killed about 20 tofus up to level 6 and never once got a tofu feather... am I missing something?
Unknown2006-04-25 05:46:32
Quite likely. I have only a few points in chance, and I get tofu feathers all the time. You could try it with a team though, as for every person that works together in a battle, the likelihood of each person getting something is increased. dunno.gif

Edit: If you want, whisper me if I'm there... my character is Raaji.

I'm Jevonna, there. I'm lvl 3 Panda/lvl 10 Farmer.

I played this before. Didn't like it.

Ok it's cute and all but it just doesn't have the right stuff to get people into it. There is practically NO player community at all IC, it gets really dull way too soon, and the spelling mistakes don't help the case.

I'm sure others like it, but I think it's just not all that great.
Unknown2006-04-25 17:27:07
EDIT: whoops. clicked twice.
Penelope2006-04-25 17:31:37
Yeah, I've put my character up to level 10 so far and the only player interaction I get is someone trying to challenge me and when I tell them no I get called a variety of colorful names. What I love about it is the Final Fantasy Tactics feel to battles.

EDIT: I've also found something I COMPLETELY do not like. They come out with a new version and instead of automatic updates you have to download the whole bloody file again. So, 700 people are trying to download it at one time and I'm getting less than dial-up speed on the download and I'm running with broadband.
Unknown2006-04-25 21:35:26
That is a bit pesky.. but I totally love the combat system. It alone is what is making me consider subscribing and pestering friends of mine to join.

From the looks of things, the IC community goes up quite a bit once you suscribe, since you gain access to more of the world, guild stuff, and the conflict over territories (similar to Guild Wars, from the sounds of it) and if you could find a good guild, it looks like you could have a lot of fun.

What classes are you guys liking?

Sacrier & Sram are my favorites, I think. I love running around and setting traps with my Sram. I can take out stuff way over my head if I get a good starting position. And the concept of Sacrier is like a berserker, but with style.
Daganev2006-04-25 22:45:06
I was likeing the sram and scrier as well, and the fortune hunters...

however, I downloaded the update, and now any new char I make can't get into the guiding tour, and doesn't have the sit emote....

not fun since I completely messed up the build of the other chars I had made and delted them earlier.

tofus can be found in the mines in the northeast area of the starting town.

They're pesky for Sacriers. They have like 9 or 10 MP, and they have an attack that hits 2 squares all the way around them, so they move forward, attack, then move away outside of my ability to move, and since Sacrier's have no range, I have to hope the AI messes up, or else I diiiiie.

Because, while Sacriers have Attraction, to draw creatures in, at low levels, the AP costs is too high to use it and an attack in the same round, and not many maps are set up to pin the little suckers in. It sucks, but eh. I <3 Sacriers.
