I'm a geomancer telepath, as you all may know. I don't think Viscanti is working out quite well for me combat wise. What should I change my race to as an optimal choice in combat with my skills? I looked at the available races, and I think the above are the best choices for what I'm looking for. Please offer reasons for your choices, as I think a blind poll is just dumb

tae'dae are just cool.

Mugwump=Best race for a caster.

You're level 80 something aren't you, Revan.. so you probably have enough health for mugwump to not be too painful... and the fast equib would be nice
if you go human pre lv 85 (no idea what the stats are at 85), you'll lose a point of intelligence... and you'll see some, but not much improvement in your health regain. Major benefit for humans is the exp bonus, but you're not reincarnating in order to bash, so I guess that's not relevant.
Faeling seems like a good race for telepaths.... your charisma would shoot up. But against that, you have the social stigma of being half-elf.
Anyway.. good luck making your decision.

Mugwump is your best option I imagine... just take into account that if you relied on being tanky so far... you will need to "come to grips" with a rather new reality
EQ is by far the most crucial thing for a mage. However... maybe Telekinesis would have been better... considering that force-field has such a huge effect on damage absorbing.
Anyways, good luck with your descision!

I'd actually say human would be the best choice. For a telepath, Mugwump is a bad choice because of low Charisma, Faeling because of bad health and Tae'dae because they are just so slow. And only ID works on the grounds of ego, and only current ego too.
My advice: Go human, best to bash with and nice too. Think I had about 4.1k health or so as a human druid, pretty nice. Plus, bashing flows like a river of sweet, molten candy.

Don't go human.
If you're going by Ashteru's reasoning, then you might as well stay Viscanti. There isn't a whole lot of difference between them, and once you've used a reincarnation, you're stuck with your race. Keep your reincarnation in case you'd ever like to move Revan somewhere different in the rl years to come.

Don't listen to the Englishman.
Ashterus reasoning is the only good answer in this thread. You said yourself you want to become Titan, human is the way to go. Molten candy, dude, molten candy! Plus, Viscanti are ugly. 3 less charisma than the undeffed human, same int, less con.

I'm lv 83 Geomancer Human. I have one less int than I would as Viscanti. I bash faster, yes... but am I any better when fighting? Nope.
Ashteru2006-04-25 14:50:49
You have 1 less point int than you can as a human, which puts them on par with Viscanti. But Viscanti have a sip penalty and less con.
Aiakon has been slain by the might of the logic of Ashteru d'Illici.

master viscanti - con 14
my stats as a level 83 geomancer human - no buffs
strength: 13
intelligence: 14
dexterity: 14
size: 12
constitution: 14
charisma: 12
Con is the same for humans as for master viscantis
Intelligence is one less as a human.
the sip penalty and racial regeneration pretty much balance out.
I have marginally better health regen now. But nothing to write home about.
Please remember that your Human stats, Ashteru, as a warrior - are DIFFERENT to mine or Revan's, as Geomancers.

You remember that I was a Druid two weeks ago?
My unbuffed stats were
strength: 13
intelligence: 14
dexterity: 14
size: 12
constitution: 14
charisma: 13
and you get 1 more int that I know off, and the other stat will go to Int or Con I'd say. So, just bash a lot and you get a lot better viscanti.
And you get sip everywhere, racial regen not.
That's what humans get the EXP bonus for. To get their improved stats faster!

Normal Sip >>>> Level 2 sip penas and regen.
Not to mention that he can get level 1 regen anyway, everywhere, which doesn't stack with his racial regen.

I would go with Ashteru on this and go human so you can at least take some damage since your a telepath
but Ashteru you need to remember that Geos make the terrain they regen on. Overall though I agree with you and say humans are a better choice.

Well, he went Mugwump anyway.
