Just wond'ring.
I'm in the middle of reading it now, the part where the Tainted has come into Lusternia and the expedition is trying to find its way back to it. I started yesterday night and couldn't put it down. Achaea's history is boring compared to this...

I've read it, yes. Although it was a looooong read in the middle of the night
Anyway, haven't -exactly- read it all. Just the Cosmogenesis, some of the Soulless wars and the History of the Celestine Empire. Oh, and I skipped the parts about the communes, that's why I'm so commune-illiterate, meh. I was just really really new to it all and wasn't taking it too seriously. I need to get back to it though someday.

I still recommend it to people.
Lisaera2006-04-26 14:03:02
I've read it several times over, as I read many of the renditions of it while it was still being tweaked and refined during development.

You should have been around when Estarra was teasing us releasing one page a week of the history before Lusternia opened, I would repeatedly check the news group every 10 minutes seeing if any new history had been posted yet.

Why isn't there an option: Yes, I can sadly say I had?
Everiine2006-04-26 15:54:43
I'm working on it, but yes, it is SOOO long . But it's fascinating, seeing how the cities and the communes of the old Empire have changed into what they are now.

I know! It is.
I don't know if I can do this here (might get edited again!) but the article I read about the guy who came up with this whole idea mentioned his writing is influenced by many great works. I can see it in Lolly Pringle, the furrikin, who reminds me so much of a hobbit. Also in Rowena's transformation into a Tainted - the part where she says "All shall bow and serve me--for am I not as beautiful as I am terrible?" - reminds me so much of that elf lady from Lord of the Rings, what's her name....Galadriel? Also the whole excitement before the launch of project Cosmic hope, yet with a disctinct foreshadowing of doom, reminds me of Titanic. And the part where the Emperor asks Marylinth, his daughter, to join him in ruling the world together, after which she leaps into the pool of stars, reminds me of Darth Vader and Luke.
But then again, maybe I watch too many movies! LOL

Lolly does remind me too of Bilbo Baggins.
However, when I finished it, I was still thinking Lolly Pringle was a girl. I had to re-read it once to accidentally discovered the pronoun used was 'he'.

That's what originally drew to to Lusternia away from Aetolia: the histories. I was happily ensconced in Aetolia, guild secretary of the Cabalists (back in the good days) and someone had mentioned something about the new IRE game. After yelling loudly about insanity, I privately asked about the MSN group and started reading the histories of the Celestine Empire.
That's what appealed to me, was the depth of the story that was going into this game. I've been hooked ever since, but sometimes it makes me sad that the histories are so far removed from the average day-in-the-life in Lusternia.

Yeah, those page-a-week releases were what grabbed me, too. They're not as exciting when you can just skip to the next page so easily.
Richter2006-04-26 21:18:55
I may have added an option at the bottom. *twiddle*
Hazar2006-04-26 21:26:32
Change my vote, and fast.
Richter2006-04-26 22:26:28
Mkay.

Change my vote too. Please?

Uh-oh, someone's not interested. Come on, show yourself! No really, why are you not interested?
Unknown2006-04-28 14:03:54
You should also check out the World Library and get the History of the Elder Gods. Those are great stories not on the site yet--but they are still in progress--we haven't had an update in quite a while.

Part of the reason I'm not as active. The amazing story that was told, and we got to live part of it with the Kethuru incident and a few other things... Where's the main story again? The thing that drew me here seems to have taken a break.

Reading? What's that?
Histories? Never heard of such a thing.
And for that matter, what's a Lusternia?
This whole topic makes no sense to me.

Yes, I read them, a long time ago when I first found Lusternia.

I was going to read it, then I decided not to. As all of my characters come out of the Portal of Fate with no memory, I didn't want to pollute that by knowing the histories in an OOC sense.
