People are not as eager to help?

...as they are in Achaea? I'm wondering why this is... I don't want to imply Lusternia is worse than Achaea - each game has its own dynamics of interaction, but I'd love to discover what it is... In Achaea, I have to only ask my guild once for help, and someone is ready to do it. Here, there is usually only one person in my guild who is eager to help, the others are not quick to answer....so sometimes I resort to asking the City for help, and then it takes a while for one or two people to respond. It just feels like everyone is into their own thing, not helping others so much? I'm sure I'm wrong. But anyone feel the same, ever?

Achaea is full of retards. They will help you at the drop of a hat, but they will do a poor job of it, likely not take into account any vestiges of RP or even IC-behavior, and generally be Achaeans about it.

Also, they have a much larger playerbase to begin with, so more opportunities for assistence, and the large amount of conflict in Lusternia (villages, wildnodes, sea quest, ect.) means that a lot of people are going to be too busy to help.
Aiakon2006-05-01 18:12:09
Or alternately.

1) There are many more achaeans. A huge number more, actually.. = More to answer your questions

2) There's less of a planar thing on Achaea. You can go off plane, sure.. but not so easily. If there's a raid going on on Celestia or something, there will be no one around to hear your questions or to explain why no one is answering.
Everiine2006-05-01 18:13:36
There are yes a few people who don't actively help everyone that comes along because they are in the middle of doing something all the time. Most of the time I notice, when no one answers a question, it's because nobody knows smile.gif. But it seems like people are willing to help often enough.
Shaeden2006-05-01 18:22:50
This is why you should ask your wise mentor! Message me questions, I'll get to'em eventually unsure.gif .

Also...
Celestines have what? Simimi, Alodia, Yurika, and Tzekelkan as secs, and 'mimi is in school, Tzek is away/uber busy IC, Yurika is Security and often raiding why she is around, and Alodia is not high activity. For undersecs we have Faragan, Clise (ususally on early morning ish at the same time) and Gavilian (Often around), and of course myself. Seems like a lot, but really, when you have 24 hours to cover, and each only really plays 2-3 hours a day (each novice is 30-1 hour), it leaves little free time. Then there's all the backlogged admin stuff I am yet to get to for OOC and IC reasons....But let's not go there! quickexit.gif

Thanks for not calling me names.

Umm.

Regarding this "achaea has more people" thing - I have to disagree - First of all, I'm in a guild that is relatively small compared to the other guilds. Second, I reside in a village, not a city (so you can imagine that the # of people in Celest is the same as that of Eleusis, the village). So I disagree - it's not about the numbers.

Temporary_Guido : I don't know where you met these "retards" but I haven't met them yet! The help I've received was great, and everyone I've met stays in-character.

Aiakon I think you're right about the planar thing. That could be it! Everiine, you pass too.

Shaeden, I'm speechless.
Rauros2006-05-01 19:01:16
Your font hurts my eyes.

Edit: Thank you. biggrin.gif happy.gif

Edit 2: Please don't let the actions (or inactions) of one guild determine your view of the whole game. What times are you active? Are there a lot of people on GWHO that you can see? Do they have GNT or GT turned on or off? Are they high ranking members (high ranking being GR 5 or more, in most cases)?

And please don't compare us to Achaea. doh.gif

ferlas2006-05-01 19:09:27
Err when I was in achaea Eleusis had like the majority of the player base near enough maby ashtan came close, but eleusis was the biggest.

That changed?

I'm not sure if this is achaea or aetolia but don't they have 'houses' (non archtype related guilds). From my experience with other muds it's so that a house that is formed by like minded people is also more likely to help it's members. Partly because these members are on the same wavelenght, and partly because the competition between non archtype related guilds is a lot bigger then archtype related ones like in Lusternia.

EG. You are forced to be in the paladins if you want to be a warrior with sacaraments, regardless if you care about the guild stuff.

Alternatively, Lusternia's system makes it easier to get to know people.

Ofcourse the cheer numbers of achaea also matter. Many guilds in Lusternia don't have experienced players around 24/7 at the moment.
ferlas2006-05-01 19:10:54
Now I think about it eleusis probally had about the same number of people in it as the whole of lusternia if I remember correctly.

Nyla can always help novices again.. then we can have an army of emo Viravain worsphipping Terentia/Hajamin and Serenwilde hating people who are always mad at the world!
Everiine2006-05-01 19:56:38
I think the greatest asset we have is the Newbie Channel. There, it doesn't matter what guild you are in or who you are pledging your allegiance to. On the Newbie channel, everyone there is supposed to answer questions. It's usually the best place for unbiased help on game issues.

I completely understand the issue of there being lots of novice aides, but they can't cover all 24 hours in a day. Oftentimes, of the 5 Undersecs in the Serenuguard, 4 of us will be on at the same time. I dont' know if it's because we are in the same timezone or what, but it happens. That usually means there is a large window somewhere that isn't being covered sad.gif.

huh.gif Eep! In a good way? I take it no... Didn't mean to come off hard, I'm just bad with people when I can't see them in person

And... if in game I ignore, as I told Peony, prod away. whenever one person sends me a tell thre's always 2 or three other doings the same (Just today when I taught you the Planar stuff I was talking to Faragan and considering what to do about dear Nyla's post)

Nyla- don't touch my novices! tongue.gif

Peony, I liked your old font. It was individual. I demand that you return to it.
Hazar2006-05-01 21:50:26
It really does come down to population.

P.S. Sometimes a single message will get lost amidst bashing/fighting/forging/other spammy activity. Try asking an undersec directly, or asking again. Failing that...yeah, well, then you're screwed.

Relatively small? Unless they added new guilds (or "houses," bleh) to Eleusis, both Sylvans and Sentinels were huge. And Eleusis really is a city. They just like the term "village" like the forests here like "commune." Their numbers definitely have an impact. I even logged on my old Eleusian Sentinel account.

Well, there's also no law against asking those outside of your guild for help. I tend to pepper my day with logins where I do forging work or whatnot that I can do fairly mindlessly so that someone can come poke me if they need anything, so feel free to pop by the forge and give me a poke if you've got any general questions. Sorry if it seems like your citymates aren't around!

The bulk of people don't have broadcast, and a lot of people bash off plane, and are busy more than Achaea (which really comes off as a gigantic chatroom - with mudsex - to me). Less people, too. You'll get help - eventually, we just don't have as many bored people knocking around. Plus in influencing, or the many other events that make Lusternia unique and on occasion painful and disturbing, people are normally thinking "THAT FILTHY SON OF A (#*%#. HE BLOODY WELL DIVERTED AGAIN!" (/slitwrists), rather than "Hm, that novice needs help.".
