Pain

What if people had pain levels? The pain level would be raised by physical attacks (not telepathy or afflictions), and would reach a maximum, at which point the victim would start regularly losing health, and if they were weaker in maybe level/discipline/resilience/statistics, they would pass out, and take more damage from the pain.

For blunt attacks, the pain would be immediate, and for cutting, it might be delayed (the way you have the initial shock after cutting yourself, but then the pain kicks in)

I suppose we really don't need this, but I just want to see what you think

Not sure. Although I like the idea in theory, I don't know if we need to add another small, complicated feature to combat. I hear lots of people saying combat needs to go back to the way it used to be (though I don't know what they are talking about, since I'm new compared to many). It's not about adding new features, it's about making what we have work better.

Though like I said, not a bad idea at all smile.gif.

We don't need any more types of damage to deal with. Anyway, drinking health potions actually does heal those wounds. When you're at max health, you aren't hurt at all and you have no pain... so damge = pain anyway.

Nonono! Pain is like poison damage, only it is from wounds!

Anyway, you're right that we really don't need something like this. I did already say that...

I'd like to see someone's statistics and overall abilities decrease as they took damage, but that would be far too unbalancing. It makes sense that someone within a few points of death would be in far too much agony to do any real fighting. But most of that can be passed off as afflictions, at least when dealing with warriors - though the very curing system is unrealistic to begin with. "Crap, I just got a hole stabbed in my chest! Good thing I can chew on this plant and instantly close it!"

I like this idea, except instead of pain being affected by warriors and wounding levels, it should be affected by the number of Novices in your guild and your guild position/responciblities.

The more novices you are working with, the more your head hurts, and you can have a Mechanical reason why you can't run and help to defend your city.

This is all part of the plan of having all the people interested in combat not helping the new players so that the next generation will be a bunch of pacifists and will bring back Elcyrion.
