I have this great idea, and I wish the devs would approve. As the title states, we could be the first IRE game to have monthly music contests (like the contests we have already).
For example, at the end of each month, musically inclined players could submit a .mid format or .mp3 of their work, which should have something to do with Lusternia... it could be a work that musically describes a goddess/god, a town, or any aspect of the mythology, or anything at all of Lusternia. Imagine the depth it could add
Just an idea though

I don't think there'd be that many submissions, and it would strain the servers...
Another issue is that instrumental music is abstract. That means there's no way music can be 'lusternia-related' and makes plagiarism awfully easy.
You can, however, submit a .swf file to the artisanals, which can include music.

Verithrax, could you please give me more info on the .swf thing, because up until now, I wasn't aware that Artisanal contests could include music!?
Verithrax2006-05-06 01:43:26
.swf is the file extension of a Flash animation (.shockWaveFlash)

Can one convert midi to .swf?
Verithrax2006-05-06 01:47:55
Using a Flash editor, you can make an animation and then add music to it - Presumably midi, or at least a .wav or .mp3 you generate from a midi file. Google it.

Thanks :-) Love your optimism. Hehehe

actually Im quite sure hajamin told me once that you could submit music for artisanals, as at the time I had written a few songs surrounding lusternia, just never got around to converting them to a computer

Oooh... That's it! I'm emailing support.

There are two ways to submit a musical submission to Lusternia's artisanal entries that I have seen. You could convert sheet music to a .jpg or a .gif, and upload that. Or, you could add the music to a Flash animation, program a simple play/pause/stop button system, and export it to a .swf file, then upload that.
You can't submit music to a Bardic contest (weird, no?), unless you just wrote the lyrics out.

Well, if it's sung, submit the lyrics to Bardic and include a link to a hosted copy of the actual music file for anyone interested.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's a Bardic entry that is a whole musical, complete with lyrics, dancing, and sheet music.

Okay, here is a small compilation of what I found, so that others embarking on this umm, adventure! have an easy(er) path to follow.

Tools I found:
14 day free trial of Swish Max
Powerbullet Presenter - Completely free and easy to use
Easy FlashMaker (SWF Creator) - Shareware, but can be used freely. Yes, there is a music button too.
Open Office Impress - presentation freeware similar to Microsoft's Powepoint. Let's you export files as an .swf and add music
Clipyard - Demo version available, full version - $20.
