I think the repeated titles are self explanatory. Do you see an end in sight? Some people call it mundane while others really enjoy it. What kind of solutions might there be? Will the two forces finally find a truce, or will a common enemy arise? What do you hope will happen? IG one or both sides want to eliminate the other, but IRL that can never happen, it's not possible to wipe out a portion of the money-spending playerbase. So how do you feel about it?
Unknown2006-05-06 01:49:06
Obviously, no. I would love to see temporary lulls in the conflict, enjoy the rare grudging partnership, and wish there were other sorts of conflict (cities and communes?) to go along with it... but light vs. taint is here to stay, in one form or another.
Verithrax2006-05-06 01:52:10
This might come as a surprise to you all, but I don't care either way. Sure, Verithrax cares a lot and wants it to stop, but I think the game will be fun either way. However, I also know that the conflict is there to stay unless the playerbase decides, en masse, to just stop fighting. There'll be ebbs and flows, sure, with the two sides going more or less fanatical, but it'll always be there to some extent.
Unknown2006-05-06 01:56:32
It will end...
when the head of the last Tainted scum left is burning in a holy pyre of holy flames, curing the taint as it chars the skin of the decapitated head of Verithrax
and by curing I mean destroying

Well erm it probally wont end but some organisations are doing their best to avoid conflict, for example that whole faethorn thing with celest and them stealing fae gave glomdoring a reason to start raiding celestia and that was pretty fun for a while then celest made the law to stop stealing fae. Conflict finished and avoided through player actions and laws.
Ashteru2006-05-06 08:45:11
It's very easy to incite conflict in Faethorn. It consists of
tell munsia I want to shave you and make a coat out of your sheddings.
---wait a few minutes---
---get attacked by a group of Serens.---
ct Aaah, Seren's pretty aggressive. How about we show them which forest is the better one?
---the fight commences---

IC, the whole point of everything is for one side to beat the other. But OOC, everyone knows that's never gonna happen. It's the main plot of the whole game fer cryin' out loud! As in all things like this, it will be a permanent, perpetual battle between both sides. It's the same situation between the Light and Dark in Aetolia.
Shaeden2006-05-06 13:35:19
Ooh, I misunderstood. I wanted to vote yes, but I want it to. Would be so cool to have both cities march against Serenwilde
Unknown2006-05-06 17:12:18
The best way to end ANY conflict is to journey to the Eye of the Storm. To confront it, to understand it, to analyze it. So yes, it's possible. But I'm not sure most Lusternians are willing to do that.
Unknown2006-05-06 18:02:26
I wanted to write that it's unlikely to happen - but then, we were almost on the verge of a Serenwilde vs Celest war, and during that time Serenwilde's relations with Glomdoring improved significantly. So who knows?
Anyway, as stereotypical as Magnagora vs Celest might be, it's better than no conflict at all. Lusternia is a game about conflict and RP, removing one of them would remove 50% of the game's purpouse.

Temporary alliance against those damn forestals, perhaps, but having it end would remove that lovely tension from the game.
That's what I find fun in Lusternia. The sort of dread, tension, weariness, and sheer joy that comes from a constantly changing, violently competitive environment.

"No, and I don't want it to."
Personally I'd prefer a situation whereby all four organizations stood alone and each worked for their own interests. Treaties and alliances which last for extended periods are far too restricting.

I agree with this anyway.

No, but I want it to.
Well, Tzek wants to anyway. But it's never gonna happen. I'm too lazy to make an IC explanation, but OOC it's the whole point of the game. Duh.

I'm still waiting for a war to break out over trade alliances...
A war that is entirely over the price of herbs or some thing like that.
But maybe that would be too close to real life for some people.

First we'd need an event to spur the price change. Some sort of major shift in production. Still, that could only ever happen with alchemy or enchanting, and it would require something very dramatic to happen.

Well, you can have Warriors in the cities overharvesting and then trying to limit supplies for alchemists and try to do damage with the label of "we are trying to hurt them tainted/Light scum/Glomdoring/Tree huggers"
Unknown2006-05-10 03:52:24
I don't think so... First of all is the statues that'll will hinder you thus you'll be killed by the Guards or the Citizens in the city/commune
Second, you autocongulate already in the city (don't know about communes) thus doesn't matter if you die defending because you'll end up back in your nexus.
Third, if it does ends (Taint succeeds in tainting the basin with Celest/Serenwilde no chance of survival or vice versa). What will happen to Lusternia then? Reset the entire game, remake Lusternia and let everyone go back to level one? (not to mention how crowded will it be in the novice grounds) I don't think the Demigods and Titans would like that plus it's gonna be a helluva pressure for the coders...

Daxera2006-06-07 17:37:13
Really, it would be awesome to be a part of the destruction of the terms Light and Taint. Daxera's goal is to get rid of them. I don't think it will happen, but if it did we would need some other conflict. Conflict is very conducive towards RP.

I think the answer is to make the Fates stop bringing people to life, so everyone can be completely wiped out.
