I've played achaea. I have a raja monk and paladin. I'm wondering what race class combo i should go. I'm thinking of going faeling baldemaster with necromancy is this a good idea or not?
Unknown2006-05-16 16:14:03
Sorry, but this is a bad idea.
Only way to do this is to play an ur'guard.
Faelings get specialisations when joining guilds from Glomdoring. Ur'guard are from Magnagora.
Unspecialised faeling warriors, frankly, suck. I played one, I know.
Also, Magnagora is somewhat racist on that extent. They hate Merian and Elfen, I do not know about Faeling but they should too, since they're basically half-fae, half-elfen.
Unspecialised faeling looks good on paper for someone who played Achaea. But here, fighters do not rely on poisons that much. Poisons only have a 33% chance of hitting or so, so they are unreliable. We kill with wounding afflictions, and wounding is based on precision of the weapon (which replaced to-hit), and strength. Mainly strength - so it's very important, as important as speed.
Also, Necromancy is a very good support ability. It's a good choice.

The only thing that matters for a warrior is weapon stats, and racial advantages/disadvantages.
Everything else is just important for defensive reasons.
Also, none of the skillsets are what you think they are. Knighthood for example, is much closer to tekura.

well anyone else?
Daganev2006-05-16 16:22:19
You might want to think about going Aslaran with Necromancy.
Acrune2006-05-16 19:01:57
Haven't noticed many Magnagoran faelings, they tend to mostly live in the communes, especially Glomdoring. I'd either go Ebonguard with the faeling (which I hear is pretty nice), or choose a different race to go with Necromancy. Perhaps start as a Viscanti, and change race once you get a feel for things and you know what you want to do.
Shamarah2006-05-16 19:30:10
Unspecialized faelings suck.
If you want to be a fast necromancy warrior, pick aslaran. (It's basically Lusternia's version of the raja)

how do i get a specialized faeling?
Shamarah2006-05-16 19:44:40
Join Glomdoring, be a warrior, and specialize in Night or Crow.
But then you can't have Necromancy.

my advice is: Don't eat the brown faeleaf. For the love of Nil, DO NOT eat the brown faeleaf!

In the help file for faelings, you'll see:
Special for Night and Crow Totem: Upon gaining the Wicca
specialization or Druidry specialization, a faeling becomes a
Shadowcaster Faeling with statistics changing by +1 constitution,
+1 intelligence, -3 dexterity and +1 size. Faelings who choose
the warrior path, upon gaining the specialization become a Shadowlord
Faelings with statistics changing by -3 intelligence, -3 charisma,
+3 strength, +2 constitution and +2 size.
Shadowcaster and Shadowlord faelings would be the specialized faelings. The only way to get night or crow totem is to join a Glomdoring guild though, so as Shamarah said, that'd mean no necromancy.

should i specialize in crow or night?
Daganev2006-05-17 16:37:52
Crow lets you fly(with attack skills related to that), Night at transcendant increases your weapon prowess.

to specialize i have to get to master in whatever right?
Vix2006-05-18 00:36:18
Right. It's approximately 30 credits or so. (Less now because of bound credits)
You then have to SKILLCHOICE SELECT. I suggest you research your possible specializations before choosing though.

highmagic is better for warriors, you get +1 str from it.
Also don't trans athletics, it goes beter at 50% mythical when you get surge, the trans skill is useless and appauling.
If you went ur'guard good on you. Necromancy has one good skill in it, that's lichdom. The other ok one is ghost (like blackwind). Lichdom is like you put it up, you die somewhere down the track, hang around as a soul for 20 odd seconds and reform off EQ with 0 power as a lich, where you get +2int and +2 str at night and -1 to both during the day.
You will never be able to sacrifice anyone in 1v1 (pretty much vivisect but its impossible to do).
Aslaran ur'guard is pretty good, I cleaned up for a long long time.

I went Aslaran ur'guard i'm thinking of going for blademaster. Should i go for double rapiers or one rapier and another sword?
Hazar2006-05-23 01:31:38
Double rapiers. Weapons running on considerably different speeds are nightmares.
Murphy2006-05-23 04:47:04
agreed, you want 2 weapons the same
