Hmm so as a few of you know diamante is hanging up the bludgeons and becoming a wiccan. I was curious as to input on which race to choose.
Im debating between a shadowcaster faeling and Mugwump, these would be the base statistics.
SC Faeling
STATISTICS:
Strength : 7 Dexterity : 15 Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 16 Charisma : 16 Size : 5
ADVANTAGES:
o Shares Elfen racial language.
o Can FLY.
o Regenerate health and mana while in forest environments, Level 2.
o Recover balance more quickly, level 3.
o Heal faster from elixirs, level 2.
o Faster herb balance, level 1.
Mugwump
STATISTICS:
Strength : 12 Dexterity : 14 Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 15 Charisma : 11 Size : 12
ADVANTAGES:
o Have a racial language, mugwumpi.
o Regain equilibrium faster, level 3.
o Are resistant to asphyxiation damage, level 1.
o Can automatically swim and tread water without taking damage.
o Can DIVE into the ocean depths (RISE to come up).
o Regenerate health and mana while in marsh or swamp, level 2.
DISADVANTAGES:
o Are susceptible to fire, level 3.
o Are susceptible to electricity, level 3.
I know the eq bonus is to die for, but it seems that the faeling would be more tanky, gives me the ability to fly and has higher int, charisma, dex, and smaller size.
As i've not played much as an eq-based class, does the eq bonus for wiccans more than make up for the lesser tankiness?
Other relavant statistics, I'm level 97 nearing 50%, so I think titan of each of these races should be considered.
Any input would be great

For you as an individual, I think your first exposure to how frail mugwumps are will be a bit of shell shock. In reality, while the eq bonus won't offset the lack of tankiness, it might be enough to encourage your opponent to shield or step away. You're a high enough level that the absurd weakness to burst damage won't drop you. Really, the choice is a quick and dirty offense, or the ability to stand a few rounds against an aquamancer or damage warrior (which is no longer an issue as a titan).
All wiccans can fly with a broom. Don't let that determine anything.

Heh I've been a mugwump before, bashing without surge and could tank ixion and kaervas together for quite some time. However I have not been a faeling, and I wasn't sure if that alone was worth switching for.

Meh...now I need a new Ebonwolf.
Stupid low populations.
Main thing you need to think about is how your advantages are coming into play. Hexes is fast for anybody, so even a 30% increase is rather incremental. The speed will be more noticeable - and thus useful - with Night and Wicca skills. Faeling will be less speedy, but more useful in all situations (charisma), and considerably tankier. My opinion would be
Mugwump = Offense
Faeling = Defense

Hexes take balance or eq to throw?
Soll2006-05-25 13:53:25
Eq.

As a furrikin, it's about one second each to draw and to throw.

Figured I should mention this briefly...quite a lot of things knock a wiccan off his broom and it takes eq to both call it and get back on, so it's not as good as regular flight by quite a ways (even if it's still pretty helpful for other things.)

Mugwump, there is no question about it mugwump are the best caster race high int + the level 3 speed bonus means for bashing your better than a faeling for pvp you out damage a faeling and definatly at your level you will never ever have a problem with tankinging even as a mugwump. So you have the best offense in the game combined with a lot of health from your level meaning you can tank just fine anyway.
Mugwump beats faeling easily.
