I am planning a book about Celestines and Nihilists, and I need some help with it.

I need a description of Gorgulu, and his Symbol, and of demons and archdemons.

Also, could someone post the full skill lists of Celestialism and Nihilism, or PM me if you'd rather. I might need more extensive help as my story progresses, but this is all for now.

Oh, and which Supernal is Gorgulu the "opposite" of?

Why not ask IC?
Unknown2006-06-14 21:22:48
I couldn't really ask "IC" because then things would bet paraphrased. If I asked in game, it would be only me who gets it, and ya never know, someone else might need these, and resources like this are always good.

Okies, I'm not just trying to bump this thread, but I really need these descriptions and ABs

Supernals and Demon Lords are not exactly 'opposite' to each other. Nifilhema and Raziela could be considered opposites, or Raziela and Ashtorath. Luciphage and Elohora are also quite obviously counterparts, though they differ in that Luciphage actually stands for something distinct whereas Elohora is just a balance of the other four.

It's not that cut-and-dry, though.

Hmm... Blasted indirect relations. Elohora fits with Luciphage, and Baalphegar with Japhiel, but nothing else really fits?

Elohora and Luciphage = Balance vs. Perfection and Domination

Japhiel and Baalphegar = Wisdom and Justice vs. Wisdom and trickery(eh, somewhat.)

Raziela and Niphilhema = Love vs. Love for Torture

Metheron and Ashthorath = Crusade out of "love" vs. Love for war and rage?

Shakiniel and Gorgulu = Protection to the love ones and the innocent vs. eating everything that moves?

The last two are rather difficult. I think the "opposites" end in Raziela

As Corinthian ^ said, the relationships between the Demons and the Supernals are pretty flimsy. Here's a brief summary of what they're about (forgive any slight inaccuracies about the Demon Lords, I'm new to Nihilism, whereas I had a year of the Light being rammed down my throat ninja.gif)

Elohora - Balance of the others for... wholesomeness, whatev.
Luciphage - Domination and manipulation (through applying the other Demons' teachings).

Baalphegar - Knowledge, deceit, intrigue
Japhiel - Wisdom, justice, truth

^These ones are fairly easy. I'm guessing that the Emanations of Shallamar (before being tainted) were similar to the Supernals, but neither diametrically opposite nor exactly the same, and so no easy lines can be drawn (I'm sure there's some literature somewhere about the Emanations. I'd like to read about them). But here's the rest of them and some thoughts on their relationships:

Ashtorath - Wrath, vengeance, terror, hatred
Nifilhema - Pain, suffering, cruelty
Gorgulu - Greed, consumption

Shakiniel - Protection, hope
Methrenton - Crusade, military offense
Raziela - Love, compassion

Ashtorath vs Shakiniel (fear/terror vs hope)
Ashtorath vs Raziela (Hatred/vengeange vs love/compassion)
Nifilhema vs Methrenton (killing for a purpose vs gratuitous pain and suffering)
Nifilhema vs Raziela (Pain/suffering vs love/compassion)
Gorgulu vs Raziela (Greed, avarice vs love/compassion )

Poor old Gorgulu. He's the odd man out.

And just so this post isn't totally useless:

Malevolent demons:
This creature stands seven feet tall, with huge wings and a long sinuous tail. Its hairless body is jet black, the colour of pure night. Two blazing red eyes stand out from its skin, and white, pointed teeth decorate its evil grin. The creature slouches as it walks, long claws ready to rend the bones from the unwary innocents in its path.

Archdemons:
This huge creature is barely recognisable as humanoid, its form has been so twisted by the taint. It stands almost ten foot high, the huge wings behind it making it seem almost as wide. Great tumours have erupted from its body, whilst its limbs are twisted out of proportion. A huge maw is filled with massive teeth, black ooze dripping down its chin. Bright red eyes blaze above the grin, the only clear feature in the blackened, corrupted form. Multiple limbs have erupted from its sides, some massive, clawed arms, others stunted mockeries or sinuous tentacles. Its nose exhales a black smoke, which wraps around to surround the monstrosity.

Gorgulu:
Though Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls is counted as among the Demon Lords of Nil, there is nothing about this monstrosity that hints at having an intellect, at least not one that is commonly understood as sentient. Also known as the Mouth of a Thousand Hungers, Gorgulu is a seething, amorphous mass that surges with corruption, filth and tainted putrescence. There always seems to be mouths of various sizes and species that form and salivate upon the inchoate blob that is Gorgulu. The mouths are fed by appendages that grow from the slime and pus, often appearing as tentacles or giant tongues, but sometimes as fully formed humanoids connected to Gorgulu by a cord, like half-aborted miscarriages.

(Heh, think Nurgle from WHFB. But 100x worse. tongue.gif )

So, hope some of that helps smile.gif

Yay! It definitely does!

Just so people know where I'm coming from with all this, the story is gonna be about a Celestine who is slowly corrupted to the Taint by a Symbol of Gorgulu (because of his corruption thing), but if Gorgulu is so brainless, is that really appropriate? Also, I'm trying to work out who he should be bonded to, that's what the opposites were for, though no I think about it, maybe it would be better if he was corrupted by Luciphage, with his thing for manipulation.
Unknown2006-06-16 16:50:57
I would go with Luciphage, for the manipulation. But it depends on your character's weakness. If they actually enjoy hurting people, go with Nifilhema. If they're greedy go with Gorgulu. If they're hateful, go Ashtorath. If they're into trickery/ deceit go with Baalphegar.
Unknown2006-06-16 20:50:37
Okies. I think I'll go with Luci and Meth.

So anyone got descritions of symbols of Luciphage and Methrenton? and their powers would be nice too. smile.gif

Gorgulu is only 'greed' at his most basic, if you actually...

Ah, screw it, I could go on about Gorgulu for hours.
