I was just wondering if anyone made graphics using paint shop pro, and knew of any good tutorials for it? I've searched all over but I can't really find anything.

I can't afford Photoshop and I'd rather not illegally download and crack it so I was wondering if there was anyone here with PSP expertise that could help me.

So far the best I can do is this:

And it's not that special.

So, any help (and comments for the sig would go down nicely) is much appreciated smile.gif

PSP use to be the numberone tool for legal web developers, I never had to use, but you might want to use that info in a search to find more info.

To be honest, just look up paint shop pro tutorials on google. For example, I did that and found this site in about a minute..

http://www.dumlao.cc/

It looks pretty decent, with tips and such.

As for your sig, things always look nicer when they're blended together well. The edges of your font look a little choppy, but other than that it's a great start if you're just starting out exploring smile.gif.

PS: WORLD CUP YEAHHH

Jesus you mean there's actually someone who likes football? (as in real football not your kevlar encrusted poo- but that's a thread in itself). I thought everyone here hated it...

Anyway yeah I tried googling but I couldn't seem to find much, guess I'll have to look harder. Thanks for the site.

I do I do I doooo.

I'm actually going to two world cup matches smile.gif.
Manjanaia2006-06-05 17:46:48
Lucky! Which ones?
Veonira2006-06-05 18:56:41

Be careful there.
Manjanaia2006-06-05 19:12:00
And have fun! I'll make sure to watch those matches especially smile.gif I'm somewhat supporting the US this world cup, although I'd predict that England would deal with them fairly easily if we happen to meet. You'll have a great time at the Czech match especially, your massive centre-back, that Gooch guy, against 6'7" Jan Koller, the Czech centre-forward. Should be a good clash.

I know. Actually I think he's 6'8" ohmy.gif

I use Paint Shop Pro for my stuff. I also didn't want to pay the $600 for Adobe Photoshop, and I've found that almost everything I could do with the Photoshop trial I can do in some way with Paint Shop Pro, for much cheaper of course. My advice, if you are trying to learn it, is to just play around. If you don't know what something does, click it and find out biggrin.gif! That's how I learned my way around it, and if you don't like what that button does, you can always undo it.

What Everiine said is true. Although I use photoshop 7 for all of my graphics, I learned a lot just by messing around. However, that really only gets you so far. I have to say that playing around will result in run of the mill graphics, you really have to have some sort of training or look at tutorials to make -awesome- stuff. I learned a lot of things that really come in handy, as well as learned how to do things way faster than how I had done them previously. I also took a graphic arts and animation class which helped me with a lot of basics, and I could still spend years learning new stuff.

Good advice. I'm getting better, the thing that's unsticking me is getting things to seem like they fit together.

What other programs are there for stuff like this? For my new avatar I used some photo-editing thing. Turned out okay I guess. Had fun with smudging. biggrin.gif

That's been a good site for me before I *cough*upgraded*cough* to Photoshop. As for the sig, I would reccommend always using an anti-alias on text, and removing the render more using the Edge-Seeker, or Smart Edge tools. You can add glows afterwards if you want...

An advanced tip for text with borders: Make the text as a floating selection, then promote the layer without losing the selection. Make a new raster layer, and go to Selection>Modify>Expand. Expand it by 1. Fill the selecetion on the new layer in whatever colour you want to outline the text in, and make sure it's under the text layer. Finally, you can try reducing the opacity of the outline a bit...
