Trill are the Avian Race on Lusternia, none can deny this. In an effort to encourage Trill depth and Trill role-play I have begun campaigning for special families and species of Trill. I am not asking for any changes to the Trill Race at all, only in player support for this new idea. If you would like to talk to me more about this idea please contact me via IM (Unicorn Lure) E-Mail (Karieith@yahoo.com) or PM here on the Forums.
My thought is this: That there is only one RACE of Trill, but, within the Trill there are many SPECIES of Trill. Just like there are many species of Bird. There is not just BIRD, there is Robin, Wren, Bluejay, Cardinal, Dove, etc. There are also sub-species. A Dove is a Dove, a Morning Dove is ALSO a Dove.
A Trill is proud of their species, but, they know that they are still one race and must stand together as Trill regardless of species. I do not know if anyone has starting describing themselve as a type of bird or not. But, if you would like help deciding on your bird let me know.
Trill are not just generic feathery bird person. We are a colorful range of many beautiful, expressive species of humanoid bird. Please work with me to build a more immersive Trill community.
This is only a Role-Play suggestion.

No. Y'now IRE's slogan: Be. You should be completely unique. Don't categorise people. Trill are not meant to be a proud, noble, stand-as-one race. They are artists and thinkers. Also, the "more immersive Trill community" line is groundless. Lusternia is immersive enough as it is, and you can't tell someone how to RP. Also, there is nothing special about Trill that only they should be able to do this. Aslarans can do this (lion/tiger/panther/leopard/cheetah/puma/hybrids) and so can Loboshigari. (too many different kinds of fierce canine to list here) For that matter, Furrikini have the best pre-made species system of them all. And a Viscanti can be a mix of anything e likes.
Sorry if you feel a bit put down by this, I just strongly disagree with this idea.

If you want different birds, then RP being your own species of Trill. Nothings stopping you.

TRILL NEED A RACIAL LANGUAGE!!! *end rant*
Everiine2006-06-13 20:49:14
Everiine doesn't categorize Trill, but he does see if Trill have different wing types, and he always looks at color. I don't think we need any real categorization. I kinda like the Trill race as it is, and not having a racial language, as much as I'd like to have one, is kinda neat. We stand alone in that.
Depth doesn't come from game mechanics, it comes from people.

Viscanti don't have a racial language, but that can be explained, as it would have to be a mix of every language in the Basin. But with Trill, there's no excuse. And "Trillillial was too busy painting the sky to think about language" is a silly excuse. SHE WAS -THE- DEEP THINKER'S GIRLFRIEND! Ya would have thought he'd at least let 'er share Lucidian.

The Gods spoke Divine. Not their individual racial languages.
And its very possible that Common was the language of Hallifax. Trill was a race with wings, and artistically inclined, its very likely that they were traders and bards and artisans before the major settlements began. As such, if it was the language of art and trade, it is very reasonable that it would become the "Common" tongue. And given that Lucidians were living so closely with Trill, it i also believable that they abandoned their language (which would have been pretty much impossible for anyone else to speak, given the fact they are crystal and it probably had to do with vibrations) for the sake of unity and scientific advancement. They were a logical people, and impractical languages do not aid in growth.

My IC thinggie for language was that the kind of language that the god thought in (if that makes sense. Mental impulses 'n' whatnot) became the language of their shards. But that doesn't really work, as Trillillial didn't think in Xyl-think-ian. Oooh! Maybe she thought in some kind of birdsong-cloudwhisper-beauty speak...
Ignore my ponderings.

Alright, I actually think this is a bad idea. Look at the...what were they called...the fish things from Imperian. Originally, someone set something like this up; there were deep-sea variants, shelf variants, reef variants, and a couple others.
What happened? It became pathetic and underused. The different 'species' became associated with the different cities. By categorizing, classifying, and organizing this, you actually choke it.
So, remember! RP yourself, not others, and large-scale organization inevitably turns to conspiracy and ruin.

You mean Lamira? Didn't know they did that.
I know we have this sort of thing for lycaeans except how it is is based on like Desert Lykess or Forestal Lykes, etc.
All I know is that almost all races in Imperian have a clan for that race. Council of Lupine, Norrjin Tribes, Prodgey of the Ocean, some thing Elves, and there are a few others. Dun know them all tho.

I made a post about Trill language a long time ago if you're thinking of making one. (Since I think the Admins aren't going to give Trills their own language, so if you made it an IC thing it could work, if people would be willing to learn it.)
Trill post link
I'd like to see the thing people come up with if they do make something like that.

My thought wasn't to stick people into hardened roles. If ya'll think it's a horrible idea, then maybe it is. I didn't have the intent for it that people suspected. It's hard for me to imagine a bird-like creature that doesn't resemble a real bird-like creature. A trill that is a humanoid bluejay, for example.
Unknown2006-06-14 00:03:05
There are a few people who look more like birds than humans. They have talons and beaks and such. If you're talking about coloring and such then people could do that, but for me Trills are more "angels" than "bird-men" but whatever you see fit. I'm sure you could make a clan for trills and do it like that.
Unknown2006-06-14 00:10:37
Why should Trill get such special treatment over other races?
Unknown2006-06-14 00:21:51
Why don't you do something to give other races special treatment, Guido?
It all depends on the player base. If people want Trills to have sub-races then by golly those players are going to give trills sub-races. That's how this sort of thing works.

I only read the first sentence of his post. It is a common practice among assholes like me.
Anyway, I say go for it. Would actually sort of make sense - I imagine Trillillial had a very close affinity towards all the various birds that other gods such as Viravain created, and would have splintered to resemble some of them, just like Bollikin splintered into a variety of different Furrikin.

Be nice to do this but the description kinda defines the general area for Trill colouring.

Means why put coding in it if you can just roleplay it? No need to highlight my words. Yeah sure, itd be cool, but its already achievable with a little effort on the players part.

The request wasn't to have it coded though, just for the trill players to describe themselves as such.
