Is it possible for a druid, blacktalon or Hartstone, to kill someone without using sap? I know the obvious answer "no" - however, due to Sap getting repeatedly nerfed and the existance of artifact soap (sap immunity), there has to be a way we can kill without using sap. If there isn't, then this is a serious game imbalance, as serious as the current warrior issues.
Every single serious Hartstone fighter quit Lusternia, or quit the guild. Doesn't this say SOMETHING?

It is possiable, runes and beating the out of them with your sickel/cudgel. Just because Sap got nerfed, most people who are good (Munsia, Xavius, etc.. ) Could probably beat the out of a lot of people.
Hazar2006-06-27 15:37:09
That might be true if Runes actually did something. But it really can only function as support for sap.
Druids are one of the most combat-disabled classes in the game.

One of the most? Who is worse off than us?

Hallifax guardians.

The only other way I can think of is to just try to stack bleeding as fast as you can. It won't kill anyone with a decent amount of health, and it's a bitch without sap.
Unknown2006-06-27 16:03:34
Well, every one knows I'm Sano, so not going to hide it.
Xavius did me about 200 bleed while I had the clotting enchantment up, and the sap really didn't do much. He killed me because he was able to atatck the crap out of me and shove mushrooms up my nose.

We already knew that from the moment you opened your mouth.

Wow. 200 bleeding. That's going to kill someone
You know, Magi get instakills - preserve, chasm, and if they are psionics, they have the telepathy egokill and the telekinetic bloodvessel thing. Druids instead get 25% health and 25% mana instakills, for hartstone and blacktalon respectively. Those are pathetic and impossible, as we can't do the damage to health/mana to make them happen.
Should we try to convince our envoys that we need some kind of forestal instakill to make up for our lack of killing power?

Oh! Know what we druids need? A way to hinder clotting

That made me laugh too..
Sylphas2006-06-27 16:48:04
What's sad is, compared to other druids, he's right, about Munsia at least. Haven't seen Xavius since I was dormant.
The problem with Gore is that if I get anyone decent to 25% health, I could kill them without Gore. And non-warriors, 25% is probably a cudgel and a half. It's just not worth it.

To be honest druids do lack a way to kill, but sap was so powerful it made up for that. Get some constructive envoy ideas out there that aren't completely imballed is the only thing you can do, try to keep it in check. Yes you need another means to kill, no you don't need a massive upgrade.
Shamarah2006-06-27 16:58:27
Yeah, druids are pretty screwed against anyone with artifact soap.

With Sap nerfed as it is, another way to kill wouldn't be a "massive upgrade," it would be compensation for having Sap nerfed .5 delay to commands really isn't hosing to someone with a descent system.
I think, if we are supposed to be so good with bleeding, we should have a way to keep people from clotting - perhaps a demesne effect that deals haemophilia (I think that's the one?) or something that gives a delayed-cure affliction that prevents clotting/chervil. Also, Fury should deal less damage, but a lot of bleeding - it's 100% cutting after all (not that anyone would use it, but still).
Hmm...
New skill: Druidry: Lacerations: 2P: starting two seconds from now, target cannot clot for the next eight seconds.
Meh, probably not enough. I don't know enough about combat to really suggest stuff
Shamarah2006-06-27 17:52:58
Druids should have a way to give haemophilia (stops clotting).

Yeah, it would be great for us if we could get it to stick. How can we get afflictions to stick? .... oh, right, sap.
Unknown2006-06-27 21:38:44
Would be nice of Stagstomp also ruptured internal organs, causing a delayed cure source of bleeding that requires regeneration.
And EyePeck could do the same for BlackTalon (I mean, pulling an eye out is going to cause a loooot of bleeding)

Crowform's instakill is actually proving relatively useful against lesser fighters. It's no sap, but hey.
I think the sap downgrade was a reasonable short term fix. It makes sap bearable, but still practical. It doesn't change the underlying issue that upper-level druidic combat is still limited to sap.
That having been said, the envoys have been working on a sap solution. Many frustrating hours. If you all have suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Briair walls give bleeding damage to enemies of the summoner. Come on, youre walking through and being bound by a wall of vines and thorns.

Briars attack everyone without declaration. They're walls. Still, you're not going to stack that much bleeding relying on someone else to make themselves bleed.
