I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a list of what types of ego battles work on what type of denizens, as well as any useful info you can impart. Thanks!

FRIENDLY - Easily influenced with Charity, immune to Paranoia
GREEDY - Easily influenced with Weaken, immune to Charity
BRAVE - Easily influenced with Empower, immune to Weaken
SENSUOUS - Easily influenced with Seduction, immune to Empower
INTIMIDATING - Easily influenced with Paranoia, immune to Seduction

Aside from nameless NPCs, characters not too difficult to influence include:
Susie, at Tidal Flats,
Deb, Chik, Hopliti, and Delatini in Estelbar.

I've been going around without a bromide potion though, so I haven't tested all the villages.

QUOTE(Notes on influencing from Shorlen's skill scroll)

There are five different types of influencing (excluding village
influencing), all of which have different results for success. For
each type of influencing, there are three influence skills. All of
the skills have the same strength, but the more one uses an influence
skill, the higher the denizen's resistance to it. So, always switch
between your available skills for a certain kind of influencing for
maximum effectiveness.

CHARITY - Get gold or items that denizen would drop if killed.
WEAKEN - Lower denizen's level.
EMPOWER - Raise denizen's level.
PARANOIA - Prevents denizen from participating in quests.
SEDUCTION - Causes denizen to attack those on your ENEMIES list.

Denizens have mindsets that effect what influence style they are weak
against and which they are immune to. ANALYZE the denizen to see.

Winning an influence fight gives as much experience as killing the
denizen does. Influence, then kill for double experience gain.

Losing an influence fight causes about double the experience loss of
dying and then reviving through vitae.

Losing a debate gives the shattered ego affliction, which lasts ten
minutes and is cured by nothing, not even dying. The shattered ego
affliction prevents one from influencing, diverting, or debating
others, but not from analyzing, campaigning (sancturary/crusade), or
chanting. Healers can use SUCCOR to tell at range if an enemy is
shattered during village influencing.

Villages in revolt, and only villages in revolt, can be swayed using
the city/commune swaying skills. These are learned at CR2, CR4, and
CR6, and are not based off one's influence skill.

Divert costs 50% of one's maximum ego and allows the denizen to be
influenced by someone new. It also restores a portion of the
denizen's ego, though not all of it. The author of this scroll does
not yet know the ramifications of this change during village revolts.

Parley and Amnesty are done with the leader of the organization. You do
not have to be able to influence the denizen to parley with them,
meaning you can unenemy yourself to Paavik or Landantine through
PARLEY even if you cannot influence the undead. Parley requires a LOT
of gold - in the 75,000 to 150,000 range. Amnesty is difficult since
it is the only skill of its kind. Amnesty gives a 1-10 month reprieve
based on chance and the skill of the influencer. If a 10 month
reprieve would be given, a full pardon (permanent) is given instead.

Tosha is the best place for influencing - you need up to Supplication to influence monks there really. It's learned at adept 0%. Estelbar is a good newbie place as was said - use charity attacks on non-farmers.

Tosha is the best place for influencing on Prime, Crumkindivia is far better. But unless you have access to a ship you can't really get there.
Arix2006-06-27 20:44:27
There is also the problem of finding bromides
Unknown2006-06-27 23:02:56
I have only up to Wheedling in Influencing and I don't need bromides to beat Cookies. However I do have Laetitia which I use to recover quickly from the influence battle, I also only have 16 charisma fully buffed. But if you buy the neverending bromide vial that won't be a problem!

Also most people seem to think that one can only get to Aetherbubbles by ship and are stuck there unless they fly back...thats quite untrue.

*defs up and goes again*

huh.gif Why would you do that?

There are FAR easier ways that don't require you dieing or leaving your ship stranded!

Though they do lack the theatrics of killing your self. happy.gif

Just as a side note a couple days after I posted this, Crumkindivia was renderd useless.
Arix2006-06-29 22:18:55
could someone with trans influence post a list of the skills?

What'd they do to it?
Richter2006-08-25 20:50:59
Anyone have a list of the best influencing places? Figured I might try my hand at it, mostly to annoy Minerva and steal all her business. Also, suggestions are nice. I have a cameo, a throne, gold to buy things, trans influence and dramatics.

Tosha Monastery, Crumkindivia.

Tosha is the best place on Prime.
Candyland is awesome in Aetherspace.

However, those are for begging. If you're looking for esteem and don't care about instant gold, then you can do a run of Merians, Krokani, Aslaran, Mesa, Nomads, and the guards of any org to which you aren't enemied. Also, I'd imagine various Aetherbubbles would be good, like Cankermoore, if you could get a raven cloak. (since I assume that the soldiers are actual denizens).

Tae'dae or Faeling are the best influencing races, and I'd recomend carting around a keg of bromides.

Also, get a script. So that you have to only put in the target and hit go, for it to continue to cycle through until you beat the denizen.
Minerva2006-08-25 21:23:14
I'm mad at you Richter.

I don't think you can influence them... they aren't single soldiers, but troops of 10, and only appear during the quest, and there are only four of them.

Ooh. Well, nevermind on that then. But Gnomes should be decent!

Crumkindivia is no longer awesome. Still not bad but its not really worth the fly there and back since you can just go to Tosha.

Unless of course everyone else is 'just going to Tosha' tongue.gif
