It's been a week since we've released the Cankermore Aetherbubble. As it has a very unusual quest, we're wondering what your thoughts and opinions are on this type of area.
Arix2006-07-03 02:35:23
never been ther, and have no idea what you are talking about
Unknown2006-07-03 02:37:49
Pretty cool. Haven't completed studying the different relationships between troops, but its a very cool idea.
(I'm hoping it isn't quite as luck based as it seems, but I think that's because I haven't had a chance to study the quest closely, as I said)
Edit: Oh, and now I have to remap the whole thing! Meanie!

I'm a noob, no aethership, no aethercraft. What are you talkin' about, exactly?
Ildaudid2006-07-03 02:39:13
It takes a long time to do.... then when you think it is done... guess what you have to do it again. But I liked it. Just the amount of time it was before it repoped since we had the wrong medallion seemed like forever.
Veonira2006-07-03 02:52:09
I thought it was pretty neat. But like Ildaudid said, once we finished it and realized you had to do it again, it was kind of like, "Eh, screw this."
But I liked how it was something different/new, not your basic give item to npc a, take item they give you and do this, give to npc b, etc. It'd be nice to have more quests like this, where you really have to think and interact, not just be a slave to what they need.

It would be cool if I had a chance to actually try it, but Ixion scared us away when we were trying the quest

It has a lost troop of Ur'Guard's there... so yeah if you where there when he was he would probably be defending them like Shallach.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with that at all, but I OOCly really wanted to try out the quest Our group could probably have killed him if we tried, but we really didn't care about the place ICly, and he did, so that would have been silly for us to start the fight, and he wouldn't attack us first
I'll have to go back when he's not around

Although this is only tangentially related (and I'm slightly ashamed it took me so long to realize it), I'd just like to say the whole concept of aetherbubbles is an excellent and original way of introducing new areas, and much more plausible than previous methods. (That is, "oh, an earthquake just revealed a super-secret hidden underground cave!", or "look! This area was here all along but we just didn't realize it!": after a while such occurences become trite and overly contrived.)
Veonira2006-07-03 03:49:03
Of course the only problem is that as more and more aether bubbles are created, people will start having to learn aethercraft and buying their own ships.
...Which is actually a great maneuver to get people to buy credits.

And if they don't want to learn to fly, they can buy my autopilot system

If Estarra asks for it, the feedback is important, folks! Please keep the threads on topic.

It might be interesting to find out how many people have been there.
Seems to me that Aether travel is still for the rich minority.

I'd like to even go into Aetherspace.
But on the bright side, we were right about the event being in Aetherspace.

Oh, back on topic.
Like I said, it would definitely be neat to see more quests like this. I'm really not a huge quest person. And I don't mean just honors quests, I just mean cool, interactive quests that you actually need to think about. It would also be neat to see some quests that are sort of like Choose your own adventures, where there are various outcomes depending on what you do.
Side Note: POST 666!

That isn't really true. Some of us take others there - the novices I took there the first time thought it was wonderful, and really scary. We were playing around with the quest, trying to marshall our troops and figure out if we could find out how not to lose
I need to do that again, to show it to more people *chin*

I am 90% sur eI was the first player to step foot on the bubble. I circumnavigated Aetherspace a few times before thinking "You know what, it's probably somewhere in the Catacombs" and heading towards Crumbkindivia for some candy. I just happened to run right past it
When I got there, I was able to give the bones in and get the troops. However, they didn't exactly explain how to order them at the time. "order troop move n" didn't work... luckily now there is a convinient message telling you to SAY the order. Didn't get a chance to experiment long though, as a group of six or seven Magnagorans killed me with ease. First death on that sphere EVER!!
I've done the quest successfully once now.. four more times to go for the honours. I still want an honours line for being the first (I think) to step foot on it, hehe.
By the way - there was an unannounced change regarding aetherships the same day. We can't send tells/speak on channels now while in the middle of aetherspace.

Truthfully, when I first arrived on that aetherbubble and found out about the battle between undead and mold. It annoyed me not only because I thought the Ur'guard shouldn't be having any difficulty against mold soldiers but also because I was hoping that the Lost Platoon would add far more depth to the Ur'guard's past, as well as future by extension. But instead it was just another honour quest, interesting indeed, unique without a doubt, but still in the end pointless. Getting additional honour lines where there already exists so many just loses its appeal after awhile.
