i like my magnagora guardian. but i want to make a warrior alt for magnagora. i'm thinking of going axelord or bonecrusher. which race should i pick and is axelord any good?
Vesar2006-07-07 00:57:29
Well, in Mag you can always be Viscanti, which is a great race overall. Not many weaknesses, lots of good strengths.

Dwarves are "made" for axelords in that they are more accurate with axes, but you need to ask yourself if the slower balance and EQ are worth it.

As aways, humans are good for any character/guild/city.
Unknown2006-07-07 03:10:05
I was thinking dwarf too. The dwarf disadvantages seem small compared to others. Is axelord a good skillset? I want to breakbones and cause bleeding which is why I want to try axelord.
Shryke2006-07-09 00:35:22
Axelord sucks, but with some patience they will probably get balanced in time..

Viscanti:
STATISTICS:
Strength : 13 Dexterity : 10 Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 12 Charisma : 10 Size : 13

ADVANTAGES:
o Can breathe poison gas upon reaching level 50. YAY USELESS
o Regenerate health and mana while in Tainted land, level 3. No where is ever really tainted
o Immune from poison gas. Only Geos/Viscanti's use poison gas so USELESS
o Resistance to poison damage, level 1. Again USELESS
o Resistance to blunt damage, level 1. ok helps some
o Resistance to cutting damage, level 1. ok helps some
o Special: Upon gaining the Geomancy specialization or Nihilist
specialization, a viscanti becomes a Master Viscanti with statistics
changing by -2 strength, -2 dexterity, +3 intelligence and +2
charisma. Viscanti warriors who choose the necromancy path, upon
gaining the necromancy specialization become a Brood Viscanti with
statistics changing by -3 intelligence, -1 charisma, +3 strength,
+2 dexterity, +2 constitution and +2 size.
Not always a good thing especially for Surge

DISADVANTAGES:
o Heal more slowly from elixirs, level 2. Not a good thing

I would say you can start off at that for the str/con, but I would go aslaran or something like human. Most people are in agreement as far as specialized races Viscanti suck compared to say Merian or Elfen Lord. But you are already a Magnagoran so you know how we roll. Work with what we have and still crush the opposition no matter how much better the potential they have. smile.gif

Well, in Mag you can always be Viscanti, which is a mediocre race overall. One crippling weakness, lots of irrelevant strengths.

Unknown2006-07-09 15:14:29
Viscanti is not a good choice as they are. Go human or krokani/taurian/orclach. Axelords are stronger than Pureblades, IMHO, but still weaker than Blademaster or Bonecrusher.

Dwarves are one of the worst races ever. Don't take. Racial spec = slightly smaller chance to miss, but they only have 13 str, and their balance is too slow.

EDIT: Also, you can still take Aslaran, if you are not afraid of smelling like cheese.

Both are underpowered, so it doesn't matter anyway.
But Guido, you aren't quite known for being an expert when it gets to warrior specialisations. Me neither, but at least I used to be a Pureblade, and analyzed Axelord skills on quite a few occasions.
Unknown2006-07-10 00:06:39
I've actually played three of the specs for a period of time - Guido was a bonecrusher, Farson an axelord and then a blademaster. Though I'm by no means an expert, I've been around long enough and keep a close enough eye on things to comment without looking like an utter imbecile.
Shryke2006-07-13 06:26:17
PB is WAY better then AL, at least PB's get a useful leg affliction, axelords only get knockdown, which is useless because there opponent will be standing before their next swing no matter what (stun is like half the length of their balance, as opposed to bc's who can use it in combination with another weapon..) An axelord is like a PB without tendon, how viable would that be???
Unknown2006-07-13 08:54:33
So, question, only semi-hijacking:

In general, from what I understand, warriors can go for the slow, strong, perhaps accurate, race, or the small, probably relatively quick, race.

Now, is it bet to take the strongness, for example, and make it even more noticable with something slow, accurate and damaging, or tamper it with quickness, using small, quick, probably less damaging weapons?

And, just in case my general question isn't well-understood enough -
Taurian warrior, specialization and weapon usage recommendations, anyone?
Unknown2006-07-13 22:31:01
Actually, warriors don't have that many choices when it gets to speed. Here are the races with balance bonus/penalty, with my small comment:

Bonus:
Aslaran: good
Faeling: good for Glomdoring, horrible otherwise
Furrikin: horrible

Penalty:
Igasho: below decent
Dwarf: horrible
Tae'dae: horrible x2

So, no slow race is good for being a fighter. Taurians are not a slow race, they're a normal one - and their strength makes them a very good choice. Take either Blademaster or Bonecrusher. Pureblade and Axelord = bad. I can't stress it enough - those who think they are fine as they are either are very good combatants who would be awesome if used BC/BM, or are total newbies who have no idea what they're talking about.
As for weapons, every specialisation has four categories:
-overall ones (maces/longswords): useless
-speedy (rapiers/hammers): best choice for bashing, and with high precision (180+, or 160+ if they have above 250 speed) make good PvP weapons
-precision (scimitars/morningstars): decent for bashing, good for PvP. Use them if you don't have patience/luck/money to get high precision speedy weapons
-damage (broadswords/flails): decent for bashing (a bit better than precision, still worse than speedy weapons), not good for PvP UNLESS: you spend money on artifact runes (elemental ones), then they can be good (arguably very good) if you know how to use them

So, it's your personal choice. I suggest speedy weapons with high precision. This choice should not be dependant on your race, with a small difference: there's a speed cap, so aslarans or faelings might not notice a difference between 300 and 450 (numbers overexaggerated on purpose, because I don't know the exact cap) speed rapiers.

Thanks a lot.

Still bumbling around trying to decide what to do with my Tae'dae Bonecrusher, ever since Aerenna recounted for the benefit of the entire guild how terrible they were.... Been working more on influence and forging and only now working up bonecrusher, with the war on and all...

EDIT: D'oh, old threadage.... Still looking for information, and now I've necroed a perfectly defunct thread.... Feel free to let this die. I'll start up a new one for questions once I've figured out which ones I need to ask. Oh, and my alt is probably dead at this point, as I've been away working at camp....

Igasho (still bad race) >>> tae'dae.
Also, killing people =! race is good. It means you were either fighting lowbies or you're very talented in a fight.

No hard feelings Selverad, but Tae'dae really are the worst warrior choice. Maybe apart from unspecced faelings. I hope you didn't take it personally, but when you asked for advice on the race, I gave it to you.
