After the recent debating, here's my preliminary suggestions. Feel free to add or subtract.
- Make it so only those you are involved in a debate with can hit you with the afflictions
- Have them last only a couple of minutes if left uncured
- Skills high up in dramatics that let you cure them, for equilibrium and ego
- MAYBE only allow one to affect someone at a time, and have any more given override the original. I'm not sure as to the affects, but if they're good enough then they need to either be limited to have a longer eq cost. I was having all three slapped onto me in a very short period of time by gangs of people. This wouldn't be a problem if the other suggestions were taken, though.

I had thought this too, wasn't sure why people kept bringing it up.

Because enchantments cure them too.

Get 50% Mastery in Dramatics and you can cure and afflict all three, it's not such a big deal, coupled with 50% expert in influencing and you're just about the best you can be during villages.
Unknown2006-08-01 13:37:13
Um, which enchantments cure them?
Sylphas2006-08-01 15:16:36
Focus, according to my enchanter.
Ildaudid2006-08-01 16:39:10
I had all the afflictions on me at one point and was still able to shatter some people.
Daganev2006-08-01 16:40:14
Just to make sure I'm not missing anything here, by afflictions you just mean "more suseptiable to an attack" right?
Ildaudid2006-08-01 16:50:18
I think so. I dont' know exactly what they did. I think it works that way though. If I am correct, it makes the certain debate attacks hit for more ego damage.

Technically, they make a specific mindset weaker so that you take 50% more damage when you are in and are hit by the attack that beats it. I think. I'm not sure if they make you take more damage if you debate and take backlash damage though - I haven't tested everything yet.

I'm just making sure there wasn't some time related afflictions, like say agrophobia thats associated with these...

The Dramatics afflictions are permanent until cured and last through death and logging out.

Ah, I thought that one of them made it so that your debates wore off quicker. Because it seemed to me that they were ending much sooner after one of the debators left the room.
Anyway, still think they should only be able to be used during a debate to stop gangbanging.

The debate time was lowered to 15 seconds in an attempt to stop people abusing 'friendly debate' tactics.
Sylphas2006-08-01 21:31:43
I agree that these should only be usable while debating someone, not by anyone who wanders by.
Richter2006-08-01 22:41:48
Afflictions? I know I skimmed the skillset on my way to trans, and haven't gotten to log on to play with it some more lately, but I seem to have missed -afflictions-. Maybe I need to pay closer attention?

That's unfortunate, as it also makes running more effective
