Ok, I just kind of thought of this earlier, I can't think of what to call it or how much power it should use, and it's not too well thought out...
My idea is that for a certain power cost, the runist could carve a few (4?) runes on his/her staff/cudgel. If the runist uses his/her staff/cudgel against other people like he/she normally would, there is a chance that it will fire a random rune (masked?), and a small chance that the rune fired will fade.

Pretty much the same idea was suggested, and also rejected.

That would be nice though. Runists are becoming extinct. It needs some upgrades or some kind of flexibility,
Like imbuing a healing rune on the ground (must be your demesne) healing you a bit for a limited amount of time, similar to a rune in Achaea. I forgot the name of the rune.
Or rune of protections, once imbued to the ground protects you and your allies from a certain element for a limited time. like 5% perhaps? i dont know...
I think skills like this would make runes more playable other than sling and embed to cause affliction.

Every rune idea that was suggested has been rejected. Runes won't ever get any love... yet it so despirately NEEDS it Please please give love to the runes...

I have one character with Runes that I hardly even play but I'm always tempted to forget them just because I know how useless that skillset is compared to the others. They seriously need to have another Envoy report -just- for Runes. (After warriors get theirs that is!)

here's an idea for runes , if it's been said already stop me. and if it's to over powered stop me.
taking the fusing runes idea to be able to fuse it into the staff let's say.
Fusing a rune into the staff would take 5 power but the advantage is that you can sling an affliction persay for free, no eq recovery.

Yes, it's been suggested. Multiple times.

I wonder why it keeps getting rejected..

Don't listen to these people, they're lying, no one's ever suggested this before... (Looking back at that link some of the ideas are a little weird, but I still like it overall).
