I am a krokani trans bonecrusher and I was wondering what kind of weapon would be best for a bonecrusher. I started out with maces just for balance until I figured out what was best for me. Then i started to forge flails because I thought they were the most damaging, but after 4 flails forged.. not one of them has surpassed my mace damage. I am thinking about going for hammer for speed? Or should I keep trying with flails until I get a good one, also, does precision matter that much as a krokani?

Right now im wielding a 145/158/171 flail(Our forging helpfile says 170 is max speed on flail smile.gif ) and a 146/146/169 mace.

Just looking for suggestions and opinions on which weapon type to use and which stat to look for.

I'd be guessing ... oh wait Trans... -shrug- I would've said hammers are good, but I've never gotten to trans huh.gif

Precisions only matters for PvP. The Krokani bonus is how often you miss. But precision affects what special wounding abilities you do.

Hammers are best for hunting, and hammers with good speed and high precision are best for PvP

Short version: what Daganev said. He has it right.

Long version: let's look at what stats do first.
(PvE = bashing)

Damage: in PvP, affects the damage you deal (remember: damage is not as important as afflictions, unless... see below). In PvE: damage affects the actual damage you do in a very minimal way. So it's not important for PvE.

Precision: in PvP, affects wounding damage you deal (wounding works like this: skills have wounding requirements. For example, to knockdown the enemy, s/he needs to have at least medium (600+) wounds on the leg you are hitting. To break the leg, you need heavy wounds - that's 1200 or so.), so it's very important. In PvE, this does NOTHING.

Speed: affects the rate at which you can attack. Very useful both in PvP and PvE.

Knowing this, here's the diagnosis for weapons:

Maces: good for nothing. Sorry, just smelt them down and re-use the comms.

Hammers: an universally good choice. Best weapons for PvE - just aim for high speed and ignore anything else. In PvP, you'd need both high speed and precision. I suggest at least 180 precision, or maybe less (but no less than 150, really) if you have really high speed - above 260.

Morningstars: you'd want high precision on these ones. Preferably 225 or above. Other stats less important, because I am sure they'd end up good if you manage to get high enough of precision. Very good choice for PvP, worse than hammers for PvE.

Flails: as good as maces and morningstars (that is, average) for PvE. PvP requires some explanation:

PvP with flails (or any other damage-heavy weapon for other specialisations) requires you to deal high enough damage with your attacks, obviously. You cannot hope to down everyone with pure damage, but it's not the intent - the tactic is to deal enough damage to make the enemy heal it, instead of deep wounds, which slowly amass. But here's the problem - it's very difficult to make such amounts of normal damage, because most people have a lot of physical defenses (only armour and maybe the skill Resilience affect wounding you do, but a lot of things more affect damage). So, to be good in PvP with flails, you'd need:
-them to be heavy on damage stat. 170-180.
-ARTIFACT RUNES. I am talking about the elemental ones, which cost 350 per. Probably lightning or fire ones, many people are susceptible to these types.

So unless you have credits to spend or want it the hard way, get hammers for PvE and morningstars or high-precision hammers for PvP.

hmmm, hammers huh?

Damage: 67 Precision: 152 Speed: 238
Damage: 61 Precision: 147 Speed: 268

After runes

Damage: 77 Precision: 162 Speed: 248
Damage: 71 Precision: 157 Speed: 278

As per my "small" guide (I ninja'ed you with it, so you probably didn't read it yet), the second one is good for PvE, but both are too low on precision to be good with PvP. Generally the second one is, once again, much better for it.

EDIT: Nm read the guide.

so with all this "precision for pvp" stuff, when im ready for pvp, should I go with morningstar since they have the best precision? Or should I just wait for a hammer with good precision?

Your choice. It's easier to forge a good PvP morningstar than a PvP hammer, but a PvP hammer will additionaly be good for PvE, so you won't have to have 4 weapons (more expensive, and 4 frogges look stupid).

long cool stuff about bonecrusher weapons and their stats

I am not a warrior and I am not planning on becoming one. But because of this post I understand the mechanics of warriors a lot better than I used to, out of pure curiosity. Great post. Thank you. smile.gif

Hey! I have 6 frogges! dernit!
Nico2006-07-24 21:54:44
11 frogges! Oh, and I find that morningstars (90/234/161) are much more effective against mages/guardians than my precision hammers (41/192/232). But my precision hammers are usually better against warriors.
Murphy2006-07-25 12:34:09
i know of a certain someone who has 220 base precision hammers floating around, pre-nerfs are rare and expensive nowadays. 220 precision adds up to a hell of a lot when you have forging runes and weaponaura (forestal knights only) up
silimaur2006-08-06 06:48:41
pshh has anyone noticed that bonecrusher have been doing more damage...at least ive noticed recently that 2 hits with my 180 broads only did 1000 to the same person who took 1600 from karracks 140 flails (or whatever type of weapon they wer they were still only 140 damage)...just seemed wierd to me...
Daganev2006-08-06 07:40:47
I'm lucky if my 200 flails do 1100 damage.
