Ive heard alot about these hidden afflictions i ntelepathy but what exactly does a hidden affliction mean?

In the case of Telepathy there is a generic message that could be a number of different afflictions which the Telepath can use so they are effectively "hidden".

Hidden, or Masked, afflictions are ones where you don't know what affliction you just recieved, and there were many different ones it could have been. Semi-masked afflictions are ones where you don't know what affliction you just recieved, but the list of possible afflictions it could have been is very small.
So, Whammies from Hexen are masked - there are about 20 different afflicts that could have been whammied. Spores from Druids, however, are only semi-masked - they could have been either dementia, confusion, or hallucinations.
Semi-masked afflictions are much easier to handle, especially in cases like Spores, where all the afflictions are cured by the same cure (pennyroyal in this case). Truly masked afflictions require you to diagnose to see what's wrong.
