I want to see 2 very skilled mages battle it out...
Torak2006-08-05 19:26:38
It is incredibly boring, niether can demense and their offense is lax.
Athana2006-08-05 19:27:12
Umm..it would be incredibly boring to watch that fight...since they basically have the exact same abilities..and unless one side had the the advantage with a demesne I would imagine it to last a tiresomely long time
Forren2006-08-05 19:39:47
Good mages aren't going to damagekill each other. They just can't. It usually turns into a "Who can demesne the longest" or "who can heartburst the fastest" - and the heartburst competition is incredibly lame most of the time.

Could be interesting if one's a weaver. They're not all telepaths, Forren.

Well, usually telepaths/telekinetics tend to do better against dreamweavers outside of demesnes, at least that's from what I've seen.

And I'm telekinetic!
Shamarah2006-08-05 19:49:02
Dreamweavers suck worse than RUNISTS outside of demesnes.

And that's saying something.

OR you could view Mage vs. Mage like Chess.
In the end, the guy with the better area knowledge, tactics and experience wins.

I find chess more interesting than Lusternian combat myself. I'll take a log of a chess game over a combat log any day.

I'd have to say the most boring fight is Moondancer on Moondancer combat. Moondancer's only damage attack is magic, which Moondancers have quite a bit of resistance too, leaving Moonburst to do about 500 damage. Furthermore, Moondancers have a lot of passive mana regeneration, making a toadcurse kill take awhile even if the target is completely incapacitated.

So when Narsrim and I were the last two left in an FFA... it took about 30 minutes before I finally won, because he ran out of willpower first and could no longer focus mind/body.

I would like to add , dominate has it's uses in combat which are quite effcitve if it's done correctly.Force commands can be really fun, I know some intersting ones and id like to see how many telepaths know how to do it. As for damage killing , using two channels with ID and Super Channel, forcing the mage to staff himself and then throw in a mindblast. Of course there are other small damage factors like turtle/ wyrm and phantom. Being in a demense would just top it off, I haven't done this yet but it's worth a shot.
Nayl2006-08-09 16:19:37
You can only staff yourself with clumsiness, which would require a slip of a vial, and another force command, assuming that they don't have the sip vial means affliction in their system as an anti-illusion defence.
Vix2006-08-09 16:26:29
Thought you could staff yourself if you added HERE to the end. I don't don't know the exact syntax, but it's something like POINT STAFF AT HERE?
Diamondais2006-08-09 16:30:38
Pretty much any of the same magic classes fighting is boring. Each one will do the same thing, only difference may be in the order done or outside influences such as enchantments which probably wouldnt help too much anyways.
Dysolis2006-08-09 18:42:39
that is correct , you have to add the here to the syntax
Unknown2006-08-14 05:01:46
Or Ether... I prefer Ether...
