Yep, after 23 IC years in Celest, I've grown tired of the same old routine. Basically, right now, Tekora's daily life is a drawl of pestering shop owners to pay their rent and stock their shops, the occasional essence run, the occasional krokani bash session, and when I'm feeling adventurous, I hop up to Cancer and bash unlinked Lobs. When I'm not doing that, I mostly sit around at the Pool, looking pretty. Add it all up, and it's BORING. So, I've come up with a few scenarios outlining what I'm weighing up to revitalize my playing experience.
----------
Scenario 1: While flying around Astral one day, Tekora unexpectedly runs into a group of Mags. However, instead of killing him, they manage to take him captive. The next few days/weeks/months consist of general torture and brainwashing until Tekora finally cracks and pledges loyalty to Magnagora. He then leaves Celest, joins Magnagora, and uses his moderate knowledge of Celest's inner workings against them or whatever.
-Pros-
: It's unique! As far as I know, Mag converting a Celestian through torture has never happened. I dunno, I may be wrong.
: Interesting conflict RP. Tekora's the Chancellor of Celest and a member of the Star Council. He has knowledge that Celest won't like Mag getting their hands on. Maybe Celest might then try and enact a rescue operation? I dunno, but that's what makes it exciting. I've always been interested in a completely player-driven event.
: A whole new world for Tekora to explore. With joining Magnagora, comes the ability to explore all the places he was never allowed to go before. Nil, Earth, Shallach and the Catacombs come to mind. And I like exploring new places. Just check my Explorer rank.
-Cons-
: Cut off from old life. Going Taint means leaving one's friends behind. Will Lyreth still accept having Tekora in His Order? Even more concerning, Tekora's married. Will Adee still accept him if he's Tainted?
: LESSON LOSS. This seems to be the story of Tekora's life. He's been through all 3 guilds in Celest, and Tekora's taken the hit directly in the gut. Tekora's might is rivaled by many novices. It's a bit disconcerting. Hope I get a Guide Position, because I could really use the credits.
: Starting over. Joining a new city means hopping onto the bottom of the food chain. It took Tekora twenty and some-odd years to get where he is in Celest. It's not going to be easy to climb the Magnagoran social ladder.
: Unhappy ending? Tekora falls to the dark side, loses everything he once held dear, and is consumed by his loss and anger. Maybe he goes insane in the end? Who knows. Hard to tell where Tekora will be in 20 years if he goes this route.
----------
Scenario 2: After the war with Seren and Celest ends, Tekora makes a graceful exit, Stage Left, from Celest. Roams the Basin as a rogue for a few years, concentrates on starting his family with Adee, then maybe settles down in Serenwilde as an unclassed citizen for however long it takes until Hallifax opens. Then the Freewind family relocates and rises to prominence as a Great House of Hallifax.
-Pros-
: Bridges aren't burned. By leaving Celest, but still having his heart there, Tekora retains the respect he has earned throughout the years. If worse comes to worse, he can probably come back to Celest, though that probably won't happen.
: Lesson loss is minimal. If I go rogue, I'll be keeping all my skills except for Celestialism, leaving me with Astrology and Sacraments, Sacraments for the reason of cutting the power cost of ressurrection, should I ever need it.
: Happy ending. No longer having to worry about bureaucracy or fighting, Tekora can devote his life to his family and his new Divine Order. He can go hang out in Serenwilde and get to know the wife's side of the family better. And when Hallifax is freed, he finally attains his life-long dream of seeing his ancestral home. Yay!
-Cons-
: Lose access to power. This and all other standard rogue problems. Basically, you can put 'Being a rogue' as a con.
: Not much else. The 'being a rogue' thing is the only real problem I see with this.
----------
Those are the choices, people. My fate is in your hands now. Be gentle.

If I find the answer to my own character, I'll let you know.
Ever since I quit Celest I've been getting more and more apathic towards Orti.

Come to the dark side. We have cookies, and I'd be happy to help you get started.

There's not much for rogues at this point, if ever, you will have to work extra hard to provide yourself with entertainment. You could possibly work with other rogues to somehow make being rogue less...difficult and boring. Although I've entertained the idea of going hobo and scaring random people who encounter me on the road, jumping behind from twigs or flat rocks.
I found people gained city favours and such in Celest pretty easy, espcially if you're friends with the right people. You really got to earn it in Magnagora, and that can be a challenge, but nonetheless I found it more rewarding.
Then again I'm the type of person who might throw away their "Mag is my birthplace rp" and join Serenwilde so I can bother a certain sister-in-law I barely know.
Joining Magnagora would be a new, fresh environment, while being rogue can be not so great for obvious reasons.

Do eeeeet.
As for being a rogue, I always enjoyed it. It gets a bit quiet sometimes, though.

What about Glomdoring? *shrug* I've always thought they were interesting. And I remember Etanru and Lyren going through some sort of torture (from Mag?) a long time ago
Hazar2006-08-22 00:06:57
Yes. Come to Glomdoring. Now. I can make a fun conversion ritual by Wendsday. Or Valarien could do it.
Tekora2006-08-22 06:14:18
I already have a Glom alt that I'm having fun with. Anyway, I already decided on the 'going Rogue' route, so thanks for your opinions, everyone.
