Greetings, children, and gather round. I have some questions on money makery.
I have come to the conclusion that tradeskills are mostly useless. Am I wrong? I know some are usefull with a shop and/or artifacts. Can anyone give advice on which tradeskills work? Which tradeskill is the best for the least investment? Thanks!

On a more general note, I know a few ways to make good money with quests. Does bashing ever even approach the ammount of money that questing provides? If so, does it do so in places that arent constantly bashed out?

Excellent, thanks.

I don't quest for gold, but if I have a good day of bashing I can easily make 50-100K.

I make a decent profit from tailoring, but I have my own shop to stock which really helps out. I'd think something like alchemy would be a little better, or enchantments.
Diamondais2006-08-15 19:58:40
Bashing beats questing, unless the quest requires bashing for questing. I can only think of two honours lines that have bashing to do the actual quest til almost the end.

If you dont trans and/or put a ton a time and money into it, it tends to not make a lot.

The credit market beats them all! tongue.gif

Who is the fool buying all the credits and trying to sell them at 4500?
Ashteru2006-08-15 20:02:44
Alchemy seems like a good skill to have. Once I got healing potions, I was able to trans it out just from refilling.

Nobody...

People are actually buying at this price. I sold 68 at 4600, all in one go.

And promptly visited the bank. *coughs* Repaid a big debt.

Trade skills: herbs, alchemy and (lesser extent) enchantment give you dough. You don't need to be transed in them either. The rest rarely gives profit, and is mostly for personal/friends use.

Quests vs hunting: questing gives more money, but you have to be lucky for the quest to actually be there. But if I enter for example Estelbar and see the quest is open, I can earn 5000 gold in 15 minutes (if I am lazy, normally in even less). No way you can earn that much so quickly hunting, also you need a decent level and skills to hunt and every newbie can do the village quests, if they know how.

But no, no good money outside of "bashed out" places. That's why they are bashed out. You either have to be lucky (get to the place when no one's around), wait patiently for creatures to reappear, or log in when there's not a lot of people around.
Veonira2006-08-15 20:16:13
I actually don't have a huge problem with "bashed out" areas. Yeah, sometimes you have to wait, but once you wait, they're all yours.

Schweet. Thanks for all the replies so quickly! One last question - With alchemy, does one make all their money off kegs? And do you need a skill in order to fill kegs?
Thanks!
EDIT: Anyone?

I am not sure, just watch out for opportunities, and cheap herbalists and you should be good. And no, no special skill needed to refill kegs.

I made a net profit of about -40k from alchemy. I've made over 100k so far with herbs. Granted, I traded in my arties for Gloves, but that just saves me time.
Gelo2006-08-16 01:40:25
I made quite a lot of gold out of alchemy, but considering the availability of goods you ahve to have in your possession with the demand for potion, I find that alchemy is rather bothersome. Herbs is better because you dont have to invest on anything besides the skill itself. Its pure profit. You just have to pick plants and sell them on market. Somebody is bound to buy them sooner or later.

angry.gif I was tempted to do that, but I know many players would want to get credits at a lower price> I get them for free in the artisanal anyway so if I sell on credits its usually on 4K each.

BUY LOW! SELL HIGH!

... And then use the profits to buy citycredits for a fraction of the price, thereby both making a profit and earning lessons. I am the smartest man alive.

I don't have the patience for that, I buy a credit, convert it to lessons and wildly skip around my room screaming "wheee! 3 tenths of 1% closer to transing a skill!"

Thats great.. except the numbers don't work out that way for more than 100 credits most of the time.

If you are lucky you will make 3% profit, as apposed to the 20% increase in profit you would make from having the extra skills to go go bashing with.

If you want to earn gold in game from Trade skill, then pick Alchemy and find me.
Im paying really well for refiiling a keg and im bringing all needed herbs.

One round of my keg refills and you should have enough for 5-10cr. Why those Alchemists dont want to earn some gold? doh.gif tongue.gif

Or, do what I do, and buy low, sell high, and then use the gold to buy city and commune credits. As a rogue. Through other people. Then repeat.

I am the smartest man alive.

As for tradeskills, mine are purely for fun, almost no money made off of it lately.
