At least say your good byes...
Sci-No (Sci-Fi) has decided it is going to discontinue Stargate SG-1 despite ratings, and a strong fan base. There are still questions as to if it is going to finish the season out, but it looks like it will.
For those of us who like this show, please watch it live on Friday Nights. It may not save the show, but it is the best chance of saving it. If the ratings go, NBC will likely not change its mind, and it is even more unlikely that another company will pick it up. With high ratings, NBC may change its mind, or another company will pick it up.
If you are not a Stargate fan, pitch in anyways and help prevent the death of sci-fi movies, and television.

I liked SG1, but it go so... boring. I wasn't aware ratings were that good, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to start watching it again.

The only perk of it being cancelled is that there will probably be a movie.
There was going to be one before they picked up the 8th season, but it was put on hold when the series got picked up again. Also, at the end of the latest episode, there was the line "The movie's back on!" which was a pretty definite nod to the future of SG-1 being canceled.
Its had a great run though, I mean, 10 years? That's insane for a sci-fi show.
What I'd actually love to see happen is us lose the war against the Ourai, and have Daniel Jackson and just a few others escape to Atlanis, giving the Ourai the knowledge of the other galaxy. And then having a badass 4-way war.
Especially since the place is swarming with not only unconverted humans, but also two evil creations of the Ancients. Making it ripe for a crusade!
Humans vs Wraith vs Ancient Replicators vs Ourai FTW!

Damn.... I hope they don't cancel it. SG1 is pure awesome.
Reiha2006-08-23 06:03:19
...I will start watching it again if Forren ceases his abuse of the word 'awesome' to describe nearly everything.
Verithrax2006-08-23 06:19:29
Claudia Black deserves one more season!
Shorlen2006-08-23 06:26:40
I thought season 8 was supposed to be the last one anyway?

Stargate for the next IRE MUD?
I haven't been able to watch lately (damn australian tv1 for not showing the later series) but it's annoying that they are going to cancel it and possibly fill the void with... REALITY TV

I feel for Stargate fans. Firefly was cancelled after only 1 season, but I still want more shiny episodes.
Ah well, only 7 years more and Fox's ban on not allowing anyone to continue the series will go away.

A glimpse into the reality of the player of Terentia.
StarGate SG1 and StarGate Atlantis DVD sets both find their place in my home entertainment cabinet.
I love both shows, and though I don't get to watch them as religiously as I might, due to work taking Sci-Fi Friday away from me. (Oh no!), I still get a good giggle when I can go to my local Suncoast and pick up the Seasons.
Hope it stays, but I understand if it goes. This many seasons is really outstanding and very few shows last that long, Sci Fi or otherwise. When they do, it becomes almost paramount that they have placed themselves into the entertainment value of many individuals across the world through TV, DVD seasons and so forth.
In fact, I'm now in the mood to go start watching all over again...

My friends will cry when they hear this, but they can find out on their own.

Both have had some truly amazing episodes.
Season 6 of SG1 is just great to watch, especially at night. Well... it's good minus Jonas Quinn.
I have a few DVD sets myself.. Atlantis seems to have a few more blah/filler episodes, but wow, there have been some great ones.

I think Fallen meant that they'd make another movie...which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Obviously... what else would he have ment?
However, nobody was talking about the original movie when they mentioned all the SG stuff.
Going to bring Kurt douglas back as Jack? I don't think people would go for that.
Unknown2006-08-23 22:02:42
From the way you stated it it seemed like you thought he didn't know there was a movie, sorry.
I agree, people probably would want to see Richard Dean Anderson as O'Neil, which I think it'd be an even better movie if they had the SG-1 cast.
