I have been playing Lusternia for some time but I'm kinda new at this. So, here's the thing:

I am a Loboshigaru Ebonguard (I hears Loboshigaru is a good race if you don't intend to buy credits, and I think that warriors in communes are stronger than in cities) with totems, lowmagic and without specialization, I'm still a novice. What I would like to know is what abilities I should learn in each skillset to be able to fight decently. And for the specialization, I'm taking BM but what kind of weapons should I get being a Loboshigaru? And is it worth to learn sewers since there are so many quests?

Im no warrior so I cant say much that topic, but regarding sewers, no. Just ask someone to take you there if you really want to go there. I suspect you'd gain much more levels from bashing outside though. If anything, your just safe inside sewers against player combat, though your still in danger of running through crabs and eels. You dont need to waste your lessons just to get that.

Especially as an Ebonguard, I'd just avoid sewers completely. You can weevil in safety in the Glomdoring, or fight the oozes, or the wasps, or multiple other things without having to rely on someone else's hospitality.

As to weapons as a loboshigaru... scimitars might be the best choice for you. I wouldn't go for broadswords or rapiers to be honest.

Finally, what you should learn to really depends on how many lessons you have available. Things like potionlist, teleport, or strength in Athletics are VERY useful.

Although you cannot draw power from the nexus yet, as a novice, Yellow in Lowmagic is a good skill because it grants you one more Constitution point (aka more health). I think it is around Adept, and you can't draw power yet so it's not going to be useful to you until after you graduate.

Actually, you can now with dross power. And with dross power, yellow would be VERY useful. Doesn't drain your nexus at all, you can draw up to 30 power a day, and it only takes 3p per yellow, so you can do it 10 times a day if you don't use other power skills. smile.gif

Oh yeah, I forgot about dross power. smile.gif

??? Makes little sense for me, mind explaining why?

Anyway, here's a very basic guide for weapons - not race dependant!

Bashing: speed weapons are your best bet. Everything else is just inferior. You'd like rapiers (if you're a Blademaster), the faster the better.

PvP: now you have three options.

Damage weapons: since they dish out both damage and wounding, damage warriors are tough for their opponents. IF they invest in artifact runes that change damage type, partially. And these runes cost 350 credits each. Since you don't want to spend credits, I'd pass on this.

Precision weapons: you can either choose Scimitars (good ones have at least 225 wounding) or Rapiers (if they have good precision - at least 170, but how much it depends on their speed). You'll deal slightly more damage and wounding with scimitars, if their stats are good, but rapiers attack faster, which means more chances to envenom the enemy.

If you don't have much money (in-game money, not credits), the cheapest choice is to have two high-precision rapiers, because they'll serve you well both for PvP and PvE.

I actually don't feel that rapiers are anywhere near as useful in PvP as scimitars now... sure, you can get high speed, but they'll have very low damage and somewhat lacking precision which means that you can't really build up wounds very well.

It's VERY difficult to build up wounds without doing at least SOME damage, hence scimitars.

Now, for hunting, you're right- high speed rapiers all the way smile.gif

Rapiers are good enough for PvP. As an 18 str warrior with good (but not very good) rapiers and no arties I pinlegged in two lunges, everyone but other warriors.

But then, I didn't test precision-heavy weapons in a long time. I should experiment on that, but... you know.
Xenthos2006-09-05 17:01:14
"Good enough," maybe.

But not the best, in my opinion. I think you'd have found that scimitars with far more precision, though slower, would be more effective... because it does more wounding AND more damage, forcing them to choose between health curing and wound curing (of course, against someone with 10,000 health, scimitar damage isn't going to be enough to be noticeable... but really, no damage is).

Thank you everyone!
I guess I'll get some scimitars. They seem to be what suits me best.
BUT, I still have some questions:

Strenght in Athletics is learned at 0% Adept? And what is dross power? And how much time does Yellow last? Untill I leave the realm?

Strength in Athletics is learned at about 0% Expert, not Adept. Yellow lasts an hour. Dross power is power that you can draw from your nexus, even if you are blocked, but only if you have less than 15% reserves. You can only draw 30 dross power a weave (OOC day).

You said you want to fight decently so I wil also suggest getting Thirdeye in discernment. You will need this to see your opponents. This is extremely useful in PVP. I suggest getting this after getting your main skills to a decent level though. You will need your main skills more so you can bash for money to buy credits.
Unknown2006-09-06 08:20:30
Yes, I'll probably put all my lessons in BM to be able to hit anything and then bash for credits to get those skills. Once again, thank you everyone.

By the way, does someone know how does the enrage ability for Taurians works?
Abethor2006-09-08 20:52:50
It increases strength by 2 but there's chance that you will lash out at non-Taurians.

Sorry for the spam.

Well Abethor, I can read. What I want to know is how long does it stays in effect and what exacly is this lashing out. Punch, kick?

It lasts for a couple of minutes, and it's got its own unique message-- but it's very minimal damage, much like a punch or a kick.
Unknown2006-09-08 21:58:54
Not 100% sure, but I believe the time you stay enraged increases as your level increases. At level 50, it lasted about 30 seconds or so, and by level 65 (ish), it lasted about 80 seconds. Or so I remember. You'll have to test it yourself.
Shorlen2006-09-08 22:19:13
The message is something like, "You lash out at the inferior (race), (name)." I still love the old quote... "You lash out at the inferior demigod, Kaervas."
