We need to add rampages to the arena games! They give you more than one chance to fight, giving you much more practice. They basically run for a certain amount of time before the "bloodbath" kicks in. During the bloodbath, when you're killed, you're out. Last one standing wins!

So it's a FFA but for the first X amount of minutes you die but don't get kicked out of the area?

Exactly. It can run for a specified amount of time. 20 minutes or so. Then, the finale. I loved them in Achaea, as they provide so much more combat experience.

You can technically do this with a FFA- start it, have people kill each other for a while, rejoin, kill, rejoin, etc. Then when you start it, it's the last-man-standing thing.
However, I've heard that this is frowned upon. Which is sad, because I would LOVE to do it for the practice aspect.
Shiri2006-09-12 01:28:13
Who told you it was frowned upon? I think some people've done it here a couple times.
That said, in the other games, do people keep their defs when they die in a bloodbath? (The first bit.) It'd get a bit lame here if you didn't.

No
Shiri2006-09-12 01:46:27
Well that sucks then! That part would have to change.

Magnagora used to do it allll the time.
Then I heard that it was frowned upon, at the same time that they stopped doing it. This was before we got our arena.
Shiri2006-09-12 03:18:50
Hmm. No one told me about that. What's the problem with it? Not like it's abuse of arena deffing...or anything...

This sounds interesting, if they could provide a way to keep your def's when you die during the set time limit, it would definitely be worth it in my mind.

It's a one-time fee for lots of joining and fighting, I guess? I don't know why it would be a problem, and I'd love to be able to do it. But really, if it was allowed, why couldn't you just leave up a permanent FFA? Maybe that's why it's frowned on.

Well, we always had to redef upon death. But, it was still entirely worth it, as most of the time your opponent would give you time to def.
Unknown2006-09-12 12:45:12
Wait, are you forced to use power to def in the arena? otherwise there's no problem with redeffing that I can see...
Shiri2006-09-12 12:48:34
1.) It takes a LONG time, especially to regen all that power.
2.) There are things like drawdown which can only be done at night.

Deffing here is pretty much entirely different than deffing in other realms. In Achaea, I could def up fully in about 15 seconds. Here, it takes a couple minutes, and half an hour or more if you have to wait for Drawdown.

You use up power while in the arena, but get it back after the fight. Still, power flows from reserves slowly so it's annoying, and, like Nejii said, Drawdown...

Oh my gosh! Wow, I didn't know that. Hmm, I'll have to rethink the whole..."I wanna get involved in combat" thing now. No combat for me!

Aww, why? It's a bit of an exageration, though we really do have a bunch of defences here, or so it seems to me, and you really do have to wait in between using certain ones of them. But I guess it takes me 4 seconds to bond to each spirit, and there are 15 or so of them, and then stagform, wait 30 seconds for power, yellow, wait 30 seconds for power, aethersight, and then the facepaints, other defs (lipread, barkskin, rooting, red, deathsense, staghide, torc), and then the enchantments which take balance (levitation, waterwalk), it takes a total of two minutes to put up all my defs, and fourty seconds more to regen the rest of my power, and then if I'm fighting, I need to forest, meld, sapling, then set up demense effects, which take another 61 seconds to put up.
So, yeah, three minutes for me
EDIT: Oh, and for the people who say to just spiritbond nature, regenning 5 power takes 50 seconds. Bonding every spirit individually actually takes me 44 seconds now that I looked at which ones I actually bond when I def (since I don't bond night, crow, tree, river, or rock normally when I defup for RP or positional reasons, and can't bond both sun and moon at the same time).
Unknown2006-09-13 07:42:20
So maybe a short period of grace where it doesn't any or as much time to get power, then it'll take about as long as Achaea?
