Hello Lusternia,
Now I do realize some of you may feel I should ask this question in game more so than on these OOC forums, but I want to let it be known that I have reviewed the help files and such, and am just really confused as to how things all work here. Coming from Achaea (by the looks of it this IRE game looks far more complex) I don't suppose it helps much considering I have much of that games mechanics stuck in my head so I was sort of expecting some similarities.
Anyways, onto my question. I was wondering just how this skill system worked. After reviewing the skills available, I have found several that I am very interested in, particularly Dreamweaving and Astrology. After looking at the skill tree it looks as if those two are both opposites, as in I must pick one or the other. Or is it possible to have both the will power and mysticism pool? That's where I'm confused. Like what are available skills and what are not. I've gathered that certain guilds allow access to additional skills, but where is the line drawn on limiting them? Can a totem user, for instance, learn all the specializations of crow, night, moon, and stag... or do they just pick one of those? Can one learn in the body and the spirit trees, or do they just pick from one of those? I do apologize if this thread has been covered, but I did review the website information, and I tried to find posts covering this, but I was not successful in learning what I was looking for.
Thank you all for your time and help in advance!

Dreamweaving is a skill that can be chosen by the archetype of druids (guilds: Blacktalon or Hartstone) and the archetype of mages (guilds: Aquamancers or Geomancers). Astrology is one that can be chosen by wiccans (Shadowdancers or Moondancers) or guardians (Nihilist or Celestine).
Totems is how you start its skillset, and you learn "Totems" up to Master (about 178 lessons). From there, you'll choose the specialization available based on your organization and archetype and be learning that from Master to Transcendent. If you're a druid, you'll be able to pick either Hart (if you're a member of Serenwilde) or Crow (if you're a member of Glomdoring). If you're a wiccan, you can pick either Night (Glomdoring) or Moon (Serenwilde). If you're a warrior who has chosen Totems rather than another option, you'll have both Hart and Moon available if you're in the Serenwilde Serenguard guild, or Crow and Night available if you're in the Glomdoring Ebonguard guild.
The pools that skillsets/lessons fall into don't really come into play unless you forget a skill, to tell you what skills those lessons from that pool can be learned in, or you'd have to forget back more to move them out of that pool. Something like that, I'm a bit vague on the details myself. Hope some of that helps, though!

In addition to your two main guild skill sets you have a third guild skill set which you choose, and which if you look at a huge selection of characters within a guild although they'd all share the primary two, their third would be different.
In the Moondancers the primary two are Moon(specilized from totems) and Wiccan (specilized from nature).
Secondary skillsets include Healing, Hexes and Astrology. You can pick one of those three skillsets.
In the Hartstone the primary two are Hart(speclized from totems) and Druidry (specilized from nature)
Secondary skillsets include Runes, Ecology, and Dreamweaving. You pick one of those three skillsets.
Guilds with Dreamweaving available to them are the ones that use demenses (Druids and Mages). The Aquamancers, Blacktalon, Hartstone, and Geomancers.
Guilds with Astrology available to them are the ones that use entourages (Wiccans and Gaurdians). The Celestines, Moondancers, Nihilists, and Shadowdancers.
In short, you'd never have a selection between Astrology or Dreamweaving.

Ignore the stuff about skill pools - all of that will only effect you if you change guilds or otherwise decide to forget a skill.
Basically, in Lusternia, you have a few choices about what skills you learn, and not as many as it may appear at first.
Druids, Magi, Wiccans, and Guardians (IE: everyone but warriors) just get to choose what their third guildskill is, and they choose between three choices.
The point of the specializations is so that guilds can share some skills without sharing all of their skills. So, all druids and wiccans learn the same Nature skills from Inept to Master (which includes things like Flow), but then learn different things based on their guild and org. (Master is the Skilled skill rank in Achaea).
Regarding Astrology, Wiccans get to choose as their third guildskill either Healing, Hexes, and Astrology. Nihilists get to choose between Tarot, Hexes, and Astrology, and Celestines get to choose between Healing, Tarot, and Astrology.
Regarding Dreamweaving, Magi guilds get to choose between Psionics (which branches either into Telepathy or Telekinetics), Runes, and Dreamweaving. Druid guilds get to choose between Hunting (which becomes Ecology for them, warriors can also choose Hunting which becomes Tracking instead), Runes, and Dreamweaving.
... We're probably confusing you more than helping, aren't we?
